[2007.04.25] All Night Nippon - Part III

May 02, 2016 22:15

Continued from Part II. Same warning: VERY long. Final part.

Ohno: Year 1999, during Arashi’s debut press conference in Hawaii, the MC was Nippon broadcast’s announcer! This is Arashi’s little trivia.
Sakurai: (laugh) Eh? You remember about the press conference?
Ohno: Hm.. not at all.
Sakurai: It’s so surreal, we can’t remember a thing.
Ohno: Yeah, not a bit.
Sakurai: How should I put it? It’s so luxurious, being on the cruise and such. It’s good to remember it though. But my memory of that time, well it’s just surreal.
Ohno: None! I don’t remember a thing!

Sakurai: Why so sudden…
Ohno: Do excuse me.
Sakurai: (laugh) Excuse you indeed (laugh)
Ohno: I didn’t say anything.
Sakurai: You just said that out of the blue (laugh) Well it was pretty much like, “tomorrow, you’re going to Hawaii” kinda thing.
Ohno: Telling me that we’re going to Hawaii, I thought I’m going there to play… Man I was tricked (laugh)
Sakurai: Suddenly we find ourselves in the middle of a press conference.
Ohno: And when they asked “how do you feel?”, what was I about to say? I don’t know alright?
Sakurai: (laugh)
Ohno: Like, “what do you mean how do I feel?”, that was what I felt (laugh)
Sakurai: Everything was so sudden. And those journalists who came, they were wearing a face that says “who the heck are you guys?” (laugh)
Ohno: “Say what?” like that (laugh)
Sakurai: It was a surreal press conference (laugh)
Ohno: What a surreal press conference (laugh)
Sakurai: Well, ah, it’s been 7 years huh?
Ohno: 7 years.
Sakurai: We’re entering the 8th year. Time flies.
Ohno: Yeah in just a blink of an eye.

Sakurai: Alright, Commemoration of the showing of the movie “Kiiroi Namida”, “We Can Make It!” make it come true, dream special, those of you listening to the radio now, we’re collecting messages of your dreams and what you’re doing to fulfill them. We’ll read out one now. Ohno-san, please.
Ohno: I’m on it~

(This person wants to be a kindergarten teacher. She is learning piano now and she is required to learn 90 songs in 3 months, a big challenge for someone who has never played piano before this. When she feels discouraged, she listens to Arashi songs. She also wishes for Arashi to work hard to be top idols)

Sakurai: Wonderful! Her dream since she was in kindergarten.
Ohno: 90 songs…
Sakurai: It’s… it’s impossible
Ohno: I can’t do it… we…
Sakurai: I can’t either (laugh)
Ohno: Me neither. Wow amazing.
Sakurai: A few years ago, I acted as a kindergarten teacher in the drama “Yoiko no Mikata”.
Ohno: Yes yes yes.
Sakurai: Those little kinds, during that time there were 30-40 kids. I was with them everyday… it really does take a lot of effort and energy to take care of little children.
Ohno: Yeah… and it’s scary too.
Sakurai: Yes, if something happens to them.
Ohno: Yeah.
Sakurai: They’ve been placed under us in faith.
Ohno: Like what if they get hurt…
Sakurai: Yeah, it’s tough at the filming set. So I think it must be really tough for kindergarten teachers. But for people who love kids, it’s heaven.
Ohno: I suppose so.
Sakurai: It’s a fulfilling job.
Ohno: Just amazing.
Sakurai: And for this person who have this dream since kindergarten, that plays a big part in her life. Learning 90 songs in 3 months too… to say that it’s impossible, well it’s an obstacle to break through.
Ohno: Yeah, this dream… so as long as she’s looking forward.
Sakurai: So wonderful. Please work hard.
Ohno: You’re wonderful.

Sakurai: Next.

(This person wants to be a patissier, she’s attending a special high school to train herself while working part time at a cake house. At the shop, she’s only assigned to wash dishes and housekeeping, but the owner told her to make and show him 3 types of summer-themed cakes after July, which is about the time when “Bambi~no!” finishes airing. She hopes to grow better together with Ban-kun)

Ohno: Wow everyone’s amazing.
Sakurai: That’s what I’m thinking too! While reading all the mails. People always say that young people don’t have dreams and never think about their future right? No it’s not like that apparently.
Ohno: It’s not like that.
Sakurai: I guess it’s different for each person, there are also many people who work hard to achieve their dreams.
Ohno: Yes indeed.
Sakurai: Bambi~no.
Ohno: Bambi~no.
Sakurai: Did you watch it?
Ohno: I did.
Sakurai: How much did you watch?
Ohno: …about half…
Sakurai: (laugh) About that, isn’t it difficult to understand the drama if you only watch halfway like that?
Ohno: No no no…
Sakurai: Dramas, that one whole hour comes as a package, you know?
Ohno: Yeah I know.
Sakurai: To stop halfway… that’s quite difficult.
Ohno: I had to go to my friend’s house.
Sakurai: Ah, you only had a short while to watch huh?
Ohno: Yeah a short time. I wanted to watch till the end, but… well I told myself, I’ll go when the CM comes in. Then when the CM came, I was curious about what happens next, so I continued watching while standing, I kept repeating that, but I really couldn’t stay any longer… and I left.
Sakurai: Time factor.
Ohno: Yes. It’s amazing, he’s pushed to wash dishes at first.
Sakurai: Matsujun?
Ohno: Yeah, he did a mistake while cooking. So he was asked to do the dishes. Then he kinda fell asleep, he was tired, and a can came flying to his direction… it was tough for him.
Sakurai: (laugh)
Ohno: (laugh)
Sakurai: What a summary (laugh)
Ohno: No no, that’s just the beginning. I’m telling you, it’s totally different from Domyouji.
Sakurai: What impression do you have of it? Of Matsujun, what do you think of him? From Satoshi-kun’s point of view.
Ohno: Ah, that drama?
Sakurai: Yes yes yes. Is it any different from his image up till now?
Ohno: Oh it’s quite fresh. It’s like getting to see an immature Machuju… Matsujun. It’s quite refreshing.
Sakurai: I see. Shall we read one more?
Ohno: Alright, one more.

(This grade 6 student dreams to stay at Mishuku despite not knowing a thing about that place. “Arashi please tell me about Mishuku”.)

Sakurai: (laugh) “I want to live in Mishuku”, this is coming from a 6th-grader.
Ohno: It’s not any different.
Sakurai: When I was in 6th grade, I never thought of where I want to stay.
Ohno: What’s so good about Mishuku? The sound of it?
Sakurai: Perhaps so, if you say it many times it might sound amusing.
Ohno: Mishuku… well this person read about this place on a magazine.
Sakurai: But Mishiku, it’s kinda far from the train station right? Which means, it’s a quiet place… but I don’t know if it’s a good place to live or not.
Ohno: Me neither. I don’t go there often anyway.
Sakurai: Oh really? There are a lot of eateries there. I guess it’s a good place to live a quiet peaceful life. Though you’d have to walk a lot in the morning just to get a train ride.
Ohno: Oh I see.
Sakurai: You know at the Mishuku junction, there’s Yoshigyuu and Matsuya.
Ohno: Ooh~ I bet this person will go~
Sakurai: (laugh)
Ohno: (laugh)
Sakurai: Ah, Yoshigyuu today, Matsuya tomorrow (laugh)
Ohno: Yeah and they each serve many types of dishes too (laugh)
Sakurai: So she doesn’t have to worry about food, and if you walk further there’s Tenka Ippin.
Ohno: If this dream ever came true, I’d like to hear more.
Sakurai: Yeah, I’d like to know what she wants to do there.
Ohno: … I wanna know what she thinks about that place.
Sakurai: Yeah I’m curious.
Ohno: If it’s just by the sound of the name that makes her want to live there, I kind of understand.
Sakurai: Yes it sounds interesting. Where would you like to live in? Ohno-san.
Ohno: Me… You know Sangenchaya…
Sakurai: Yeah
Ohno: People always say “Sancha” right?
Sakurai: Yes yes.
Ohno: I didn’t get it at all. Not till a few years ago. “Sancha Sancha”… I thought it was a yakiniku shop.
Sakurai: (laugh) Yakiniku shop “Sancha”, it’s plausible. Like ssangchu.
Ohno: Yeah that was what I thought (laugh) Well somewhere near Sangenchaya area, and there’s also, umm, Yuuteji.
Sakurai: Ah~ yes yes yes.
Ohno: I kinda like the sound of it. Yuutenji. Like that.
Sakurai: What kind of impression do you have of that place? Of Yuutenji.
Ohno: Like, happy? (laugh)
Sakurai: I see (laugh) Well I don’t have any, a place I want to live at. When you’re old, are you the type who wants to live at the rural area? Or do you want to live in the heart of the city?
Ohno: City… No I don’t see myself there.
Sakurai: Ah I see.
Ohno: It’s tough… (small voice)
Sakurai: So when you’re old, you might, well, maybe go somewhere like Hawaii perhaps… then relax… and make artworks as you live quietly, like that?
Ohno: Yeah I guess.
Sakurai: Ah, I see.
Ohno: What about Sho-kun?
Sakurai: I think I’ll stick to the city.
Ohno: Eh~ You super city boy.
Sakurai: (burst out laughing)
Ohno: Seriously? Amazing.
Sakurai: (laugh) What comment is that?
Ohno: But why~? Because, you can easily get everything?
Sakurai: Well no… Okay yes (laugh) I, I can’t really stay still.
Ohno: Ah! …ah
Sakurai: I’ve got nothing to do…
Ohno: Sho-kun, it does seem impossible for you.
Sakurai: Satoshi-kun, you see, you can make artworks and stuff, you’ve got all sorts of hobbies.
Ohno: Yeah I do.
Sakurai: Me, I’ve got nothing to do, I can only laze around… (laugh) seriously!
Ohno: (laugh) And just like that, you’d be dead in no time… (laugh)
Sakurai: Yeah so that’s the thing (laugh)
Ohno: Well I guess that’s it for you.
Sakurai: Yeah (laugh)
Ohno: Yeah (laugh)
Sakurai: So… Please work hard so you’ll get to stay and Mishuku (laugh)
Ohno: You can do it~ (laugh)

Sakurai: After this, we’ll have Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari talk about his dream. What kind of dream will he share with us?
Ohno: Will he even talk properly?
Sakurai: Yeah that’s a problem too (laugh) Before that, let’s listen to one more song. Satoshi-kun please.
Ohno: Alright, here’s “Future” by Arashi.

Ohno: About, 100?
Sakurai: I’ve been meaning to ask, after you’re done drawing, how do you paint the colours?
Ohno: I decide the colours, then add on the colours using the computer.
Sakurai: So which means… after you’re done drawing… I’ll use this colour here, like that?
Ohno: Yes like that, then I add shadows…
Sakurai: Oh shadow too
Ohno: Yes yes.
Sakurai: So using the computer, you’re drawing out the image which you have in your head…
Ohno: Yes yes yes.
Sakurai: I see. Nino’s updating everyday.
Ohno: Yes. Nino is amazing.
Sakurai: Yes. Game Nikki.
Ohno: Yes. Wonderful!
Sakurai: Wonderful! Your dreams, and what you’re doing to fulfill them, we’re sharing the dreams we’ve received, but let’s share Arashi members’ dreams too. The last one is Ninomiya-kun. Let’s listen to his comment.

Ninomiya: I’m Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari. Here, umm… since we’re doing a quiz, when I was young, my dream was to be a professional baseball player. Well simply because I wanted to play baseball. Here’s the question. For Sho-kun and Ohno-kun to answer. It’s quite maniacal, that even these two, will be shouting “I don’t know I don’t know”.

Sakurai: Yeah cause we’re not maniacs.
Ohno: (laugh)

Ninomiya: When I was young, I played baseball. What was my plate appearance in the first game I played?

Sakurai: That’s not about his dream at all…
Ohno: I know nothing about baseball.
Sakurai: Yeah how is it possible to know?
Ohno: I don’t even know the rules.
Sakurai: What could it be? So it’s 1 in 9.
Ohno: …huh?
Sakurai: Erm, I’m sorry (laugh)
Ohno: (laugh) What?
Sakurai: (laugh) Because there are 9 players, he could be any one of those 9.
Ohno: Oh!
Sakurai: From the 9 people, which one… He’s just one of them to hit. By order.
Ohno: Ah… so the result?
Sakurai: Man this is just… what, result?

(long pause, possibly getting explanation from staff)

Sakurai: So? Ah, we don’t even know the meaning of this question (laugh)
Ohno: I don’t get it.
Sakurai: Which goes to show how hopeless we are at baseball. Plate appearance… I see, the result.
Ohno: His… first game?
Sakurai: Ah, I get it, I get… Ha… What do we have? Hit, homerun, strikeout.
Ohno: Strikeout.
Sakurai: I… I’m rooting for homerun.
Ohno: Well it does seem like it.
Sakurai: Yeah.
Ohno: Ah, there’s four ball too… so it’s not strikeout?
Sakurai: Oh, opposites. Well then. let’s hear his answer.

Ninomiya: The answer is, dead ball.

Sakurai: (laugh)
Ohno: (laugh)

Ninomiya: I was asked to share some backstage stories from the movie set. But… it’s been quite a while I can’t remember any backstage stories anymore… so I’m just going ask about my childhood experience.

Ohno: (still laughing)
Sakurai: What kind of question is this? (laugh) It’s not even backstage story…

Ninomiya: So what was the first plate appearance result for me, Ninomiya Kazunari. So how was my 2nd round in that game?

Sakurai: How come he still remembers? Amazing.
Ohno: Must’ve left quite an impression on him.
Sakurai: So he remembered the dead ball from his first game.
Ohno: The next one is homerun then?
Sakurai: Nah, you know, dead ball, and suddenly homerun?
Ohno: I’m going for dead ball again.
Sakurai: How lousy is that? (laugh)
Ohno: Brawl!
Sakurai: Brawl! Ah~ brawl. But I don’t think this guy will do that on purpose. Anyway I’m going for homerun.
Ohno: Okay. Which one is it I wonder?
Sakurai: Let’s listen to his answer.

Ninomiya: The answer is, dead ball.

Sakurai: (laugh) Seriously!?

Ninomiya: Dead ball, twice in a row.

Ohno: (laugh)
Sakurai: You got it right (laugh)

Ninomiya: And the 3rd time was four ball. Yeah.

Ohno: He didn’t hit at all (laugh)

Ninomiya: My first game… 0 against 0.

Sakurai: Satoshi-kun you got it right.
