Arashi’s BOND with Popolo ②
It’s just not right to do a full page of styling (laugh)
―Now we’re moving on to September 05’ issue of “Styling Award”.
Sakurai: This is a major project. We really created a generation.
Ninomiya: Because we did it so seriously.
―If you were asked to do that again this time?
Aiba: Today?
Matsumoto: No we won’t~ (laugh)
Sakurai: Even if it’s the same project, I guess we’d be the only group to take it seriously?
Ninomiya: Looking Aiba-san’s outfit now, it’s really interesting. 100 points! Sho-chan was wearing my masterpiece.
Matsumoto: The title’s great. “Training through Fighting a Thousand Battles” (laugh)
Sakurai: It’s just impossible to have a full page on “Popolo” with this alone. Training through fighting a thousand battles indeed (laugh)
Matsumoto: We had a full month of this lining up at the bookstores right?
Ohno: Matsujun, you have a flower on your crotch!
Matsumoto: I really do not want to pair up with Nino for this kind of series (laugh)
Aiba: Nino is Style Master after all.
Ninomiya: I end up doing it like that.
Sakurai: This group photo, we had a poster made out of it right? And right behind ours was a cool photo of another group…
Matsumoto: (searching) Right here, this one.
Everyone: Ahahahahahahaha!
Sakurai: We don’t need this, this photo (laugh). I feel so sorry towards those people on the other side of this thing.
Ninomiya: How disrespectful of us.
Ohno: We did a lot of stupid things.
Matsumoto: I had fun though. I want this photo (laugh).
―Now let’s go back to June 00’ issue’s “Ideal Adult” quotes. Let’s see if this proves that you’ve grown to be adults.
Matsumoto: Why don’t we make a quiz of who said what?
―First up, “An adult is someone who seems to have a broad back, someone whom you can rely on, someone whom you know is there”.
Aiba: So who said that?
Sakurai: Who’d talk about backs?
Matsumoto: Leader I guess?
Ninomiya: Not many people would talk about backs.
―Actually it’s Aiba-san.
Matsumoto: Ahaha, that’s totally off (laugh)
Sakurai: Well of course speaking of backs.
Aiba: That was me! And my back is broader now.
―Next, “Adult=an image of someone strong, someone who upholds others, someone who listens and is always ready to help. For me, someone who keeps saying ‘me, me’ does not fit this criteria.”
Ohno: Matsujun!
Matsujun: Everyone knew at the point of “me, me” right? (laugh)
Ohno: Yeah.
Matsujun: But I didn’t talk specifically on “an image of someone strong”. This kind of comment which is like I know but perhaps didn’t know enough, that’s what I think when I hear it now. This is bad, I want to meet myself 10 years ago and hit him (laugh).
Sakurai: So on fire.
―Next is “It’s my dream to live a normal life, being normal is the best way to see one’s character.”
Sakurai: Nino!
Ninomiya: Yeah, I thought so.
―There’s more to it. “I’ll live a life that only I can live.”
Matsumoto: Like, I’m human after all (laugh)
Ninomiya: I thought that sounded like Leader, but to say “character” so naturally, I guess it was me.
Aiba: This is Nino, and he’s doing well fulfilling that.
Ninomiya: I guess so. I’m living quite a normal life.
―Moving on. “Plan to be an adult? Planning means uncertainty. I think I’ll never truly be an adult. All the other members are holding up properly, they don’t really act childish at all.”
Ohno: Me. That’s for sure. I suppose I still think “I’ll never truly be an adult” even now.
Matsumoto: Even now.
Aiba: That does sound like Leader. What about Sh0-chan?
Ninomiya: Let’s hear it!
―“Not just growing in age, I want to grow in experience too. I want to become an adult who is steady and does not waver. I think I will truly be an adult when I am over 30.”
Sakurai: … I, I’ve thought it over huh (laugh)
Matsumoto: But what exactly makes an adult?
Sakurai: For example… when we buy confectionary gifts boxes to give out to others.
Ninomiya: When you’re an adult no one asks about that anymore.
Arashi’s BOND after 20 years?
Leader will take everyone’s kids on a fishing trip!
―20 years from now, how will Arashi become?
Sakurai: We’ve already touched 50 right? Like we’d wake up once at 5am and such (laugh)
Aiba: I wonder if we’re married?
Ninomiya: But, I think our relationship with each other will still be the same.
Sakurai: Even 20 years from now, it’ll be wonderful if Arashi can keep staying this way.
Aiba: I want us to keep doing concerts, flying around.
Matsumoto: I think we’ll be having year-end gatherings in private.
Ohno: Year-end gatherings, that sounds great.
Matsumoto: Like this year we’ll be at who’s house. Leader will bring everyone’s kids on a fishing trip.
Ohno: I can’t. Bringing everyone’s kids is too big a responsibility (laugh).
Aiba: It’ll be great to have barbeques together right? It will be wonderful to have everyone’s family together (laugh).
Sakurai: Satoshi-kun will fish and cut everything for us.
Arashi’s BOND with fans
We’re here because everyone is here for us. We’re very thankful.
―Finally, we’ll talk about Arashi’s bond with fans.
Matsumoto: I think it’s great that we have this “action reaction” between us. They give us response when we do something, and from what people say we plan our next move. I’d be really happy if we can keep that relationship going.
Aiba: Our concerts for one, because the memories for the people who keep coming will overlap, for our part too, we’d want to make concerts which are specifically for this year, specifically for next year etc.
Ninomiya: Because fans are there for us, we are able to exist as ourselves.
Sakurai: It’s exactly as Nino said. If fans weren’t there for us, we wouldn’t be able to continue to exist for 13 years now.
Matsumoto: That’s why we want to show them better things, and would want them to keep seeing all the different things we do.
Sakurai: We’ll have the most important conclusion from Ohno-san.
Ohno: Well…… rather than a conclusion, I agree with everyone!
Ninomiya: Will it really be okay? Ohno generation (laugh)
Sakurai: So how will you wrap this up?
Ohno: We’re very thankful! This is what I think all the time.
Sakurai: Yes indeed.
Ohno: My generation shall continue on!
Ninomiya: We don’t need that (laugh)
