Arashi’s BOND with Popolo ①
“Ohno Generation” shall continue on for now and forever!
Aiba: “Popolo” is celebrating their 20th anniversary already.
Everyone: Congratulations~!
―Right now I shall replay all your interviews from before.
Ninomiya: Alright, let’s do this!
―December 99’. This is a photoshoot done in Hawaii during your debut.
Sakurai: I remember this. This is a pineapple field right?
Aiba: We were told to bring jeans.
Matsumoto: And shoes to go with it.
Sakurai: It’s our debut but somehow only our tops are provided and we have to prepare our own bottoms (laugh)
―Here’s what Ninomiya-san said during that time. Aiba-san is “someone who is kind, dependable, and strong”.
Aiba: Well of course.
Ninomiya: He’s still like that even now. He’s kind… Dependable? Strong? Really?
Aiba: I can’t say that (laugh)
Sakurai: There’s an Arashi song like that, called “Yasashikute Sukoshi Baka (Kind and a little Stupid)”.
Aiba: That’s a little off (laugh)
Ohno: How nostalgic…
Sakurai: But we were so skinny back then huh.
―Here’s what Matsumoto-san said during that time. “The 5 of us have strong characters so I think there’s endless possibilities when we’re together”.
Sakurai: What a conclusive comment. Are you our producer (laugh)!?
―Continuing from that, “We will work hard to become a group that the world knows well after 10 years, 20 years”.
Ohno: During junior days Matsujun said “my dream is to hold a live concert overseas”, and he’s really happy to be able to fulfill that dream after 10 years, you said that during Asia Tour right?
Matsumoto: Yes. Leader you remembered well.
Ohno: I somehow remembered that. Things just pop up sometimes.
―Next we have September 01’ issue. “From youths to men, naked self portrait.” This was during the release of “Jidai (Generation)” single.
Sakurai: Satoshi-kun’s eyes, they’re super round (laugh).
Ohno: Hamster (laugh).
―Here’s what Ohno-san said. “It’s our generation from now on. I want to work hard frantically.”
Sakurai: From now on… about that, so after that, till when does our generation last?
Ohno: It’s still my generation!
Sakurai: It doesn’t end does it, Ohno Generation (laugh) He was aiming for that but he doesn’t leave his post (laugh)
―There’s a continuation to that, “though I’m quite reserved, but because my job is to put myself forward, so right now, I will keep pushing myself forward”.
Sakurai: Imagine someone like that going after a generation (laugh).
Ninomiya: What generation?
Sakurai: Modest generation.
―In June 06’ issue, Aiba-san said “I went for hotspring location shooting with Leader. It felt kinda weird with only the both of us. I was perplexed if I should cover my important part”.
Aiba: The main point here is that there’s only 2 of us okay? When it’s the 5 of us I won’t cover.
Matsumoto: I was asked the same thing before. What would you do? Something like that.
―He said “While watching the other person, I try to act normal and occasionally cover using the towel. Finally, I ended up covering”.
Aiba: I was perplexed…
Matsumoto: Excuse me, Nino just said “whatever” (laugh).
Aiba: It’s not ‘whatever’ okay, I was perplexed!
Ninomiya: But in the end you covered right? Speaking of which, since it’s location shooting, you definitely have to cover right? Nobody shows everything in location shooting alright (laugh).
Ohno: The both of us stood up… we peered outside didn’t we?
Sakurai: Coming from someone who runs into other peoples’ shower room, you mind that much huh.
Matsumoto: He doesn’t come into my shower room?
Sakurai: When he went to Matsujun’s place, he literally got kicked out right?
Aiba: Yes (laugh).
Sakurai: Since that day, he only comes to my place.
Aiba: Sitting back to back with Sho-chan, we can even use the small bathtub together ♪
―Moving on to February 07’ issue, “Marriage Requirement 20”. Sakurai-san said “Dear wife, please stop me from starting a fight”.
Matsumoto: He looks like he’s ready for some action in this photo (laugh).
Ohno: He looks like he’s about to start a fight (laugh)
Ninomiya: Does that requirement still count now?
Sakurai: Yes. I’m looking from someone like a referee!
Ninomiya: Someone who’s fair.
Matsumoto: She’d say, you’re the one in the wrong so apologize right now (laugh)
―Next we have what Matsumoto-san said. “I want to marry someone who is healthy and has good immune system”.
Everyone: AHAHAHAHA!
Sakurai: Are you a doctor? (laugh)
Matsumoto: I want my descendants live healthily. It’s a marriage to ensure healthy and prosperous descendants!
Ninomiya: People who are healthy generally have good immune system anyway (laugh)
Aiba: Let’s see what the others said.
―Ninomiya-san said “Dear wife, please praise me a lot”.
Matsumoto: Hm. I think “Popolo” prefers this kind of answers.
Sakurai: 100 points.
―Aiba-san said “If we get married let’s go camping together”.
Matsumoto: This is good too.
Sakurai: 120 points!
Ninomiya: Plus Aiba-san is really “on to it”.
Aiba: What about Leader?
―“My ideal wife is someone who can properly cut the fishes I catch (laugh)”
Ninomiya: ……You haven’t even started fishing yet at this period of time. You’re already lying! When it’s still Ohno Generation (laugh).
Ohno: But I included the “(laugh)” you know!
Sakurai: Of course you have to include that (laugh)
