So on Saturday I was at Walmart with my mom and went to sit down after my leg got tired. This guy sitting across from me asked what was wrong with my leg and when I told him I had cerebral palsy he asked what it was (he'd heard a little about it, but not much).

I explained it to him; that there were different types of it and epilepsy (which I brought up because of my seizures).

Anyway, he told me how he felt ostrasized by others because he was burned in a fire when he was younger and people are always telling him that he is ugly so he is selfconscience about his looks and is always depressed because he doesn't know how to deal with it.

I told him that I felt the same way growing up and how I am just now at a point where I feel more confident in myself, but that it is still a struggle.

Then yesterday at church the title of the sermon was "Get Off Your Ash" about how no matter what you are going through God will always bring you through. It was taken from Psalm 113-119 with an emphasis on verse seven from 113

"Far below him are the heavens and the earth; He stoops to look and lifts the poor from the dirt and the hungry frrom the garbage dump."

My pastor gave thhe example of King David and how he was made to live in a shack by his father, shunned by his brothers, ridiculed by his wife, and whose son tried to kill him, but he still retained his faith through it all.

He also mentioned how kids are made fun of in school or if you are sick, no matter what adversity you are going through God will heal you. Then he invited anyone who wanted to be healed and needed help getting over their adversity to come up to the alter and be blessed.

In the past I would have stayed in my seat, but yesterday I stood up and went to the front. It felt so good to be able to let all of that go. Or as pastor put it in three seperate quotes

"You can say to yourself 'I may be THIS,but God can make me THAT'."

"God can make what you think is impossible, possible. He cares for those who are dismissed by society."

"What you are running from isn't as important as the God you are running to."

I am going to get three copies of the sermon next week at church: one for me, one for him, and one for my best friend who I think could benefit from this message, too.
