I was really hoping that the snow they were predicting for this week would hit the state yesterday, so that I could use my day off today to head up to the mountains for a day of skiing. What did I get instead? The first blizzard of the year, making a mess of the roads and forcing me to postpone my ski trip for another day.
Last night I went to see Amadeus at the DCPA, and I would highly recommend it. Although you might expect a play about Mozart to be all about music, in fact the music is only one part of a much greater whole. Although it takes great liberties with the historical record, I had no problem with it because it does so in the service of creating a brilliant human drama. There were some moments in which it bordered on the ridiculous, but for the most part I was very taken by the humanity of the immature genius Mozart and the tormented Salieri who sought to spite God by extinguishing the divine music that had been so unfairly placed in such an unworthy vessel. The quality of the production was very good, but it was the writing that shone the most brilliantly.

Now, what this shows me is that you are all jerks (except Erica, who was the only one who didn't give out nasty candy). The only one I'm really surprised at is Amy. I mean, surely someone who loves Halloween that much would know better than to give out mauve candy. :)
