So, what promised initially to be the most epic weekend ever sort of turned out to be...eh. I mean, I guess it was epic, but there was enough dragging it down that the whole thing sort of leaves me feeling unsatisfied.
So, in numbers:
Lateish nights: 3
Parties: 3 (two with alcohol)
Hours of DJ set: roughly 3, maybe 3.5
People pleased: well, what seemed to be at least $140 worth at our apartment, plus a couple in Shepard and a good number at the coop
People repulsed: Lots--especially Thursday night.
Critical errors made: 1 (allowing Shepard social chairs to have the costume contest before my set, resulting in everyone leaving and my playing to an empty room)
Pimp-ass mixes: at least 5
People I witnessed hurling: 0 (remarkable)
Omega trips: 1
People seemingly irreconciliably pissed off at me who showed up at my apartment and did not acknowledge me: 1
Parties busted: 2
Noise citations issued to 1705 Ridge, 105: 1
Hearings pending: 1
Drinks: 2
Headaches: 1
Freshman radio apprentices converted to jazzy downtempo obsession: 1
My set at the coop's Halloween party was cut short by the arrival of the EPD, who were slightly more bitchy than average. This resulted in a rather early trip to Omega with Byron, Liz, Joe, Caitlin, and several of Caitlin's friends from home. Bad puns ensued. However, this (combined with the end of daylight savings time) has also resulted in my being home, typing this post, at 2:11am on Saturday night, when I hoped and expected I wouldn't be done with things until three or four. I guess it's good that I'm getting some sleep, but damn it...my weekend is over, and it was supposed to be so good, and somehow it was just so anticlimactic. I guess that's what I get for having expectations.
So it ends. Tomorrow, cleanup, synth programming in the library, and a 'powwow' with roommates that I fully expect to be incredibly tense and horribly awkward. I'm halfway tempted to go find another party.
Eh. Well, eventually there will be research into new places to have these things, and the parties will get better. It's still early. There's still time.
Hopefully I can get some sleep after that damn coffee. That was brilliant, dude...good thinking.
Good night.
