This little tidbit keeps cropping up in articles about Sarah Palin:

"Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. 'She asked the library how she could go about banning books,' he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. 'The librarian was aghast.'"

Palin's response (in 1996) was that the banning books talk was "rhetorical." You all know how I feel about book-banners, but then I was never going to vote McCain/Palin anyway.

(Note: No link because it's always one paragraph in a mammoth article, but I took the quote from Time, and the rhetorical quote was from a bunch of smaller new sites.)
