Couple of stories from the world of Major League Baseball that I'd like to share. On the upside, Rickey Henderson says he is
interested in making a comeback. Or, to put it in Rickeyspeak, "Rickey thinks Rickey can still help someone. Rickey's still got something in the tank." I didn't get the accidental genius that is Rickey Henderson in his heyday, but I love him now. Not only is he an all-time great, but he shatters the Unintentional Comedy Scale. His interviews, or as I like to call them, "Glimpses into Rickeyworld," are just howlingly funny. He's pretty realistic about his chances, but I, for one, hope he makes it.
On the downside, Curt Schilling went almost two days without attacking another major leaguer, and you knew that couldn't last. A day after teammate David Ortiz defended Barry Bonds, Schilling
launched a tirade on WEEI, saying among other things that Bonds "admitted to using steroids" and "was a black mark against the game." I'm not interested in defending Barry Bonds, but I think Curt Schilling, who shoots his mouth off about everything, and then has the temerity to whine on his blog about being misquoted, needs a nice steaming cup of Shut the Fuck Up.
