How I Spent My 4th of July
or
I Will Never Go To Origins

The mere thought, apparently, of attending Origins makes me sick. Last year, about a month prior, I developed symptoms so severe that I had to have an internal organ removed. Up until the day of surgery, it had still been my intention to leave for Origins the next day, but I had to have an unexpected secondary procedure done that kept me in the hospital a day longer. Which, in hindsight, is pretty fortunate.

This year, my complete failure to get the time off for the trip in no way deterred my body from making goddamn sure that I really could not whatsoever go to Origins. Chad left Wednesday night, I started throwing up on Thursday morning. I dragged myself in to work on Friday morning, but was sent home an hour in by my manager, most likely because I wouldn't stop throwing up. I stayed home Saturday and threw up some more, which by this time was getting stupid because I wasn't eating enough to match the sheer volume of output.

So. I finished rereading Order of the Phoenix and started Half Blood Prince. Got to know my cats really well. Opened and drank half of nearly a dozen Vitamin Waters, putting them back in the fridge each time because I was too sick to remember which one was most recent. Fed Montag an undetermined number of antibiotics. Chased phantom fish smells around the apartment.

All in all, it was an enjoyable time, and I look forward eagerly to next year!
