So here's a question:
When you're writing and you have a proper name (either surname or given) that ends with "s", and then you're writing a sentence where you turn that name into a posessive...what's the appropriate way to write that?
It is just the name, add an apostrophe? Or is it name, apostrophe, add another "s"?
Is there even a hard and fast grammer/writing rule for this? Or is this one of those things that people say different things for, generally varying by personal preference and/or from place to place?
Personally, I always just figured it was name-apostrophe-no-s, but that's because I've had in ingrained in me so that seeing "s's" makes me flinch. But I've seen it in some books recently, and in plenty of (relatively or otherwise well-written) places online.
