I don't know if anyone noticed, but sorry I was MIA for the weekend.
It just coincidentally turned out that I didn't have to work Friday, Saturday or Sunday, so I emailed Mom on Wednesday night asking if I could come up to the Lake.
It was sort of last minute, but it turns out they were on vacation for next week starting Friday anyway, so they drove up and got me Friday afternoon.
Friday was spent pretty much sitting around and enjoying the weather and saying hi to a few people, with a small break in the late evening when we all entertained ourselves for an hour listening to "Uncle" Mike attempt to talk to us after having spent all day at Put-N-Bay. Needless to say, our response to a lot of things he said was "What??" and incredulous laughter. ("Does anyone know what he just said? Diane, you're his sister: translate.") Pretty much everyone was there too, which was great since I didn't really get to see these people at all last summer since I was in school.
Saturday Dad took the boat out and anchored in a good swimming spot. As usual, my parents didn't go in but I did. Diane and Barry came with us. Then after a couple hours Mike and Deedee came out with Bill and Emily on their boat, so we swam over to talk to them.
Everyone was proud of me for graduating, wants to know what I plan to do next (sigh), and they were all quite happy with how my tattoo turned out, which was a nice surprise. They ribbed Dad a little bit about it, of course.
Later in the evening we had an attempted sunset cruise that didn't last long since the sun decided to vanish behind a thick cloud halfway down, and a campfire that had Bill and Paige arguing about stoking techniques while everyone else guffawed.
This morning me and my parents had brunch at Mon Ami, stayed around just long enough for Mike and Karen to get in so I could say hi to them, and then we took off.
Good weekend. Weather was beautiful, I got pretty sunburned but not the worst I've ever been, I got to swim, I got to see all the people I'd missed. Yay crazy Lake family. *hearts*
I also finished reading Paradise Lost, finally. Nothing like a long car ride to get you through those last hundred pages or so of Adam being emo and blaming the girl and then Michael putting on his narrative hat for an obscenely long time.
I also read The Alien Invasion Survival Handbook and am about halfway through my next Kitty Norville book, Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand.
I did, however, somehow manage to miss a call from my good friend
eliara when she rang me up from North Carolina, so she left a message letting me know she was FREAKIN' ENGAGED. AHHH. (BITCH, CALL ME BACK!!!)
So. There's news.
Well, anyway...I'm home now. Time to catch up on the internet.
