'And Lupin goes randomly batshit emo crazy, and Harry verbal bitch-slaps him. Really hard.'

XDDD

And I thought mine was incoherent. Yay for a satisfying ending. Except Fred. That was not satisfying. D:

XD Yeah, I was going to try for some meta, but in the end all I really had to say was "SQUEE", so I went with that.

SNAPE. HARRY. DRACO. WOE, LOVE, AND THE URGE TO SMACK, RESPECTIVELY. I AM STILL SO CONFUSED AS TO MY ULTIMATE REACTION TO THIS BOOK.

Except that Luna needs to sex someone, which really, anyone could have seen that coming. It's totally my MO. "You're made entirely of awesome? Have an orgasm."

I kinda wish I could have come up with some more thoughtful meta or some such, but in the end I think that's best left to the people who can, you know, think. (Like you. Response to your reaction post coming soon, hopefully.) All I really know for sure at this point is that Snape had better be having the best damn afterlife ever.

(Word on the Luna being awesome, BTW. I was totally rooting for her and Neville, but I heard JK nixed that in an interview which, well, pooey! Though, since when has that ever stopped Crazy Fandom from doing anything?)

(Also, your MO is kind of like my MO, only substitute "awesome" for "complicated and freakishly damaged" and "orgasm" with "tons of emo suffering and often downright otherwordly weirdness, and THEN an orgasm".)

This is the same JKR who said that she didn't think that Snape was at the end of the day a hero, nevermind all of the context clues she painted into his and Dumbledore's relationship saying that it was about much more than Lily at that point. I respect the woman for writing such a vivid world, but she's a little like Anne Rice in the end (with the ego): she made the universe, and then fans did a much, much better job with it.

I would like to give JKR a titch more credit than Anne Rice, at least in the sense that from what I've seen of her Jo doesn't seem to have AR's raging pile of crazy, but I do concede your point. When it comes to exploring the nuances of her characters past the roles set for them in her head/universe, she's a little bit made of fail.
