It's Over

...And all of a sudden everything is green. The trees that have been dead all winter are full of the young shades of green; the dark purple-light purple-white lilacs in the alley are all blooming. It's been a rough winter. Some of the trees will never come back. I was partly hoping the one out back that I think I'm allergic to would have to be ( Read more... )

I can't tell you how much I agree. We (anyone) can have different opinions/feelings/beliefs. All I ask is we can discuss it civilly. And that hasn't been happening. [My rant time: At Black Sky this weekend I was commenting to a friend how different and interesting it was that Black Sky employees are no longer wearing masks, and their customers are no longer wearing masks, but this was the place that was most strict about all restrictions, mandates, etc. But at Sobo, where the Czech girls at first didn't quite understand the mask concept, the employees are still wearing masks, and the regulars are largely wearing masks, but the randos from off the street are almost never wearing masks when they walk in. I attributed it to location and clientele... A bartender, and a rather outspoken one, overheard, and commented "I wish I had covid so that I could give it to any anti-masker or anti-vaxxer that comes in here so they die." Like, damn, dude. Not only is that so inappropriate on so many levels, and that at least 4 of the people in the group he was serving are not vaccinated and don't plan on being, but we weren't even talking about that! None of what I said had anything to do with that. Both bars are operating within CDC suggestions and state guidelines. Wishing death upon people, though?? Really??]

My hope is that people are starting to chill a little bit. Like you said, this isn't sustainable. Neither is being on edge, neither is fighting and being angry all the time.
