[When Mao woke up today, he went straight off to bed again, but got woken up by his mother (who really should keep her nose out of his business) and made to eat breakfast with the rest of the family. As far as he knows, there's nothing wrong with this--it's just an ordinary day, after all, and he hates it.

It's stupid and it's ordinary and he knows there's something wrong about it. He just doesn't know what it is, exactly.]

[ACTION]

[But when he gets out of the house, food in his mouth and ready to start working, he suddenly stumbles and the attack manages to pass right over him just as he does, which is perfect and he wonders exactly what was that about, before going on his way.

It happens again just a few moments later, though, and this time he's about to succumb to darkness when he hears someone yelling at him, pleading with him and hugging him and he again wonders where that came from.

However, these attacks will recur throughout the day:

A. As he reads comics in the dark (he has a flashlight, thank you), he is suddenly engrossed in a story about a hero who defeats the evil Overlord with the power of love and justice and wonders where that one came from.

B. When he takes the long route to the comic book shop, he stumbles for the second time in a day and brings up his sword to block against the little blue-haired kid who calls him the legendary Overlord and finds himself with a throbbing headache.

C. Finally, you can find him at the park, near the lake, trying to just deal with this storm of strange memories. He's lived in Mayfield all his life, hasn't he? No, wait, he's...he's...]

Dammit! [He picks up a rock and throws it across, then just collapses, looking more like a lost whatever than...whatever he's supposed to be.]

[PHONE]

[By now he's starting to go insane, trying to figure out just what those strange memories mean and what's going on and why. So it's with hesitation--hasn't he lived here no he's never been here before but isn't this his home no it's not his home--that he picks up the phone.

It's a while before he speaks.]

So...is this really our home? Where we lived and all that stuff? Because I'm starting to wonder if we've always been here.

[He breathes in deeply. It's obvious he's had a lot of time to think about it.]

I've been seeing weird stuff all day. Has anyone else done that too?

!ic, always a demon, the hell is this, event: proud to be a mayfieldian...not!, stupid introspective thoughts, memoooooooryyyyy, screw you mayfield, greatest overlord of all time
