Are You Afraid Yet?

This may seem random, but listen anyways. This Sister feels... well, curious. Or something. Ah, Del by the way. Shel's not doing so hot right now, so for once I'm not crabby.

So yeah, Halloween has always been about scaring the crap out of people. Or at least it seems that way now. We won't even get into being a holiday (well not really) to celebrate the dead and so on and so forth. I'll leave that to history books and history teachers. Or is that religion? Going on.

I'm sure just about everyone went to some sort of haunted house or castle for our favorite bewitching night. But the whole point is to scare the crap out of people, right? (Me personally, I don't scare easy. Maybe because I'm so morbid?) Boo. Ahh. Oh no, I peed myself. Scary right?

But you know what's REALLY scary?

Life.

Nothing is as scary as life.

Anyone ever seen NOVA? How about NOVA: Science Now? Holy shit. (Um, warning? Bad language alert? A little late...) I clicked on right in the middle of them talking about different flu strains. This guy studies flu's and he wants to study the 1918 Flu. Or something like that. This thing took out like 17% of the world's population. (The Black Plague took out 20% I think.) And he WANTS to study it? Problem is, the flu died out. Didn't even last 9 years. So they have no live specimen to look at. So what do they do?

They bring out the tissue samples of soldiers that died from the flu. Why do we have tissue samples of anyone who died from something we didn't know how to beat? Isn't the normal response to burn what scares us and we don't understand? (Those poor, poor misunderstood witches...)

Now they have the blue print, so to speak. It's DNA basically. And this guy RECREATES it?! Hitchcock, eat your heart out. Here's the real psycho. I understand studying it to help with modern medicine. They now have a better understanding of the Avian Flu because of the 1918 Flu live sample. But still!

Real life is just so much scarier.

I mean, the 1918 Flu is so much worse then other strains. It attacks the lungs in the same place as the common flu, but it attacks the lower portion of our lungs, where it's more dangerous. Nothing to fight that. Lab mice exposed to the flu died in 3 days. The same that happened to the people infected.

All it takes is an idiot.

Taking work home with you? Bad idea.

You mean that wasn't water? Opps.

I don't know about you, but I'm not feeling very safe. And like I said. Real life is so much more scarier then Jason or Michael. A poltergeist can kiss my a-ACK!

...how do sick people hit so hard?

Anyways, I hope you can see my point. I tend to ramble. Not to mention, I should stop there before Shel hurts me. (Why do sick people have irregular sleeping patterns? Isn't that why you take drugs?) I just wanted to share my... well, fears. 'Cause nothing beats the horrors of life. -Demonic Sister Del.
