We are a Publisher that Specializes on Fanfictions

Yeah, you read that right. I found out today on facebook that there's a publisher in Indonesia that specializes in fanfics. I mean, WTF, man??

The latest fanfic they're going to publish is from Naruto fandom (btw, it's also available in ff.net but in bahasa). They had also previously published a Super Junior fanfiction. I don't even know what the law said about that (RPF).

So a1y_puff and I wanted to rant in ffrants in hope that they will stop this kind of publication but we can't find a proper way to say 'What the flying fuck! It's copyright infringement! Die, you bastards!'. We also know nothing about the legal stuff, like what's the law about it in Japan, Indonesia, and Korea. I tried to read similar discussion in ffrants (this one's about fanfic author who asks for commission), but only got headache. I don't understand what's going on there at all...

We just feel it's wrong. We put the disclaimer (I don't make profit from this work. Blah blah belong to original author and publisher) for a reason. Writing fanfics is a hobby. I don't care if it doesn't make money. The only reward I receive is the pleasure from knowing that people read and like my fics. That's what a hobby is about!!! Profit is fucking optional!

It saddens me to know that many fanfic author think it's a good idea to publish their work. Don't they write the god damn disclaimer? Or do they think it's just fancy writing that authors put up? Do they know the meaning of things??? If they want to publish the fanfics, they could at least change the effing names to avoid copyright infringement!

So what do you think? Have any legal advice? Want to flame the publisher (I'm with you there!)? Want to rant in ffrants in our place?
