I was raised with labels. And if you asked in the last few years, I would have said Christian, but you might have heard me hesitate before I said it.
Last night, I lifted a candle onto our altar, and I spoke a short and personal prayer. I lit the incense, and washed my head in the smoke.

Here are my thoughts to why I should or shouldn't reach for a label.
How much value is sprituality for its sake alone? Doesn't that spirituality need to have a focus?
And if I worship a specific divine- is it respectful to give it a proper name? Or is "The Divine" enough of an appropriate moniker?
As far as the practicality of labels.. THAT part is more of a desire to have backup in teaching the kids. Where do we fit? Certainly not the typical church. On the other hand, while I wasn't offended by what little experience I've had with pagan rituals, I didn't really feel like it fit me either- so I can't turn to that to raise my children in.
Having to be your kids sole source of spiritual guidance is a big responsibility. It is nice to be able to draw on some kind of support.
So.. If I came with a label, it could be helpful right now..
