Nebuta Part Two - Musicians

Aug 05, 2010 16:24

Behind every float at the festival was 1) a big ass Taiko set-up and 2) a group of flutists and cymbalists. They were all dressed differently according to which company or group's float they were following and they were all playing the same song!

This is the Asahi drinks company Taiko set - isn't that huuuuuuuge? I have to admit, I teared up a little when the parade master blew his whistle and the drums broke the silence.. I guess it's like when someone hears their national anthem or something, for me, I get that big feeling in my chest when I hear the drums, the flutes, the shamisen - it feels like love and happy and peace all at the same time inside of me. I love this country.

This is the biggest drum I have ever seen, they had three people on EACH SIDE banging on it and the base was lined with people making music.
