I've been looking forward to the World Cup. I'm currently listening to the India v Sri Lanka match (India have upped the pace to keep their place in the tournament and Sri Lanka are suffering) and I've kept up-to-date on the match results.
And then Bob Woolmer dies. It goes from a stress-induced tragedy, to a suspicion of drug and alcohol poisoning, and now we have murder by strangulation.
I've grown up hearing about Bob Woolmer's career, hearing him speak at the matches and I can't believe this has happened. Right after Pakistan's exit from the World Cup, the heavy suspicion falls on the team and those associated. That just...fills me with disbelief, that the world of cricket, of all things, would be marred by this.
I'm surprised that Allan Donald wants the tournament called off - he's right that Bob Woolmer would definitely not have wanted that and that, for me, is enough reason to keep going.
This is going to something that will linger for a long time and we haven't even begun to see the consequences of this.
