I've just done this once and deleted it, so I am not happy. It's also Huw's keyboard, so I really can't type with it.
I will briefly mention Tao of Rodney because it was a great episode and I really enjoyed it. Rodney became a superhero! I especially loved him levitating Carson and the telepathy. Then it all went wrong and it was sad. I cried at the tea ceremony.
I was a little annoyed that we didn't see his goodbye to Carson except for 'Thanks for everything' and some reference to an autopsy. However, it was still very good.
And now...Sunday.
My friend Kiki (who I watched this episode with - poor guy. As any of you who have watched TV with me will attest, I constantly babble and this time was no exception) said he found the structure irritating but I liked the way we saw everyone's stories. They needed some social time, a break from the drama and action - a break that Stargate needed years ago and still hasn't really taken - and this was a good example. Elizabeth's brief foray into dating and Rodney's not-totally-screwed-up date were both cute, as were everyone's interactions.
And then we come to Carson. Oh, Carson. Everyone blew him off. On his day off, all he wanted to do was go fishing with Rodney, who wormed out of it, and then everyone else had better things to do. So he went back to work. And then he puts himself in danger saving someone's life, before getting engulfed in a giant fireball.
I was not expecting that. Knowing that "something happens" and that Carson was to return in Season 4 made me think disability, Ford-like event or ascension. But we got a fireball. Their only way out of this is more conversations with Rodney (which would be a sweet theme), finding an AU Carson or retconning the story so that he ascended.
Who knows? But I will miss Carson. And Rodney will too. That reassures me - the guilt and the ghost conv shows how deep their relationship is. I can live with 'the closest thing to a best friend I've ever had.'
