Secretly, this is a rec journal.

The Not My Fandom Fest is closed to participation now, but it's hilarious. Someone names a fandom and people who've only ever heard of it write fic. Check out the Power Rangers entry. Just go. And Inception, Supernatural, Bones. dying

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! The Devil's Hour by rockingroad - Yamamoto & Tsuna, perfect for them and heart-warming.

Kingdom Hearts: Can't Hide, Axel, Sora, also AXEL ♥ ROXAS inasmuch as he is capable of it. A painful take on that scene in KHII in Betwixt and Between.

But I also have a question!

Scene: a character of unspecified European origin talks about "the Queen", and is speaking to Japanese people and, on a meta level, a Japanese audience. How unreasonable is it to take "the Queen" as referring to the Queen of England?

There are other queens in Europe, but I feel like when people put it as "the Queen" in general conversation, without specifying, that they're talking about the British monarch. It's how I've generally seen the term used, but maybe that just makes me culturally imperialised. Would that perception hold true for Japan?

Basically, I want an excuse to write Shamal/the-equivalent-of Queen Elizabeth. (But the queen of Jordan is a more likely candidate, I'm thinking.)

kingdom hearts, reborn!, recs, recs: katekyo hitman reborn!
