I've been catching up on manga like crazy.
Fullmetal Alchemist 80-81
- Forget Ling. (Okay, not really.) Wrath and Hohenheim are my favourites and the best and most awesome characters in Fullmetal Alchemist. Bradley I love you and hi Hohenheim, cutest grown man in manga. (Also that face on Al is SO WRONG but I still approve because it's also very very cute.)
- It seems the end of FMA is not as close as the previous chapters made it feel, and I'm so glad. Obviously the manga is in its last arc, but it's taking its time heading up to the climax. When Envy turned out to be a foetus it felt like this thing could be wrapped up in like five more chapters.
- Dang. How does that joke even begin to play out in Japanese?
- The Armstrongs finally met! I hope Louis gets a shot at impressing Olivia.
- "My vintage armour!" as first words to his son? I like. Hohenheim's such a dumbass who fails at life. ♥
- As of now I will ignore Rose's former obsessive love for her boyfriend and pretend she is Hot For Winry.
- But who wouldn't be? Arakawa's faces might not be great, but her anatomy seems to be top notch. (See also the Ed colorspread of this chapter, ohoho yes.)
- And maybe Winry is a little Hot For Rose? :))
- The rare moments when Hohenheim does not fail at life make me kind of clutch at my heart.
- hahahahaHAHAHAHAHAAAAA. Apparently, the height joke does not get old. Oh, Ed.

- I approve deeply of the header for this chapter. Chibi Lal! ♥♥♥♥ They're all so cute.

LOOK! It's Yamamoto's tiny midget brain in the process of realising that something does not, in fact, MAKE ANY KIND OF SENSE NO IT'S NOT A GAME, IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. I ... I never thought I'd see the day. :')
- Gokudera and Ryohei in vicious combat for the title of most adorable gave me such a fit of joy.
- Ah, so that's the line Byakuran is feeding to the masses. How then to justify allying with the old school Gioglio Nero?
- GIANT SNAKE WRASSLIN' TIME :DDDDDDDDDDDDDD GO RYOHEI GO how much awesome can be packed into one person. Seriously, how much. If the storm attribute is degenration and sun is activation (which in context translates into regeneration/healing), then this fight could be Ryohei getting broken down and built up repeatedly and man oh man, I'd love that.
Eyeshield 21 270-274
- So, that bit where Sena chooses to get hurt by Gaou rather than have the ball taken away from him by Marco. "Please be gentle." ...It sounds so ... shoujo, and the heroine finally gets close to her gruff badboy beloved, and the scene fades to black, and ... I will not write this AU.
- Now that it has been revealed that the real Eyeshield 21 is sufficiently pretty, I'm waiting for Yamato/Kakei with fanboying and blushing and uke tears to fall from the skies. Come on, Japanese fanartists. I know you want to. For bonus points, Sena/Kakei/Yamato sammich because I would cry laughing Kakei wants it.
- Seriously now, Maria/Marco fic. At least one good one has to pop up, right? Marco doing it all (mostly) for love is ... cute. and weird. and fitting. It makes his skankiness all the more fantastic. I wish the Dinosaurs had been like the Shinryuuji Naga or Oujo, and we'd got more of them over a longer period of time.
- Sena dropping the MVP award: pure love.
- Monta and Monta&Sena will forever be my favourite things about this manga.
- ... next chapter is going to be all about Hiruma in a sling and not being able to heal enough to play properly, isn't it. :(
- BUT CHRISTMAS BOWL!! Finally!
D.Gray-man 144-153
- Maybe I'm easy, but I gotta say that the Level 4 akuma is sufficiently creepy.
- Hevlaska got backstory? Hevlaska? And it's with Vatican Hitler? That's so cool.
- On the one hand, YES LENALEE KICK ASS I CAN'T WAIT, and on the other hand, another Hoshino fight scene to try and make heads or tails out of. Sigh. Interesting that those marks on her legs look like Noah crosses...
- Meanwhile I shall dedicate myself to not thinking up bizarre fetishistic fics playing on Lenalee's blood being a weapon, and Crowley drinking a certain kind of modified blood and so why shouldn't he want another kind of modified blood, especially the kind that's in a close-fitting form over Lenalee's legs...? Yeah, not going there.
- It's a pity that Allen wasn't really an unconscious body being tossed around by his Innocence, like I thought in chapter 152, but his moment of we-all-stand-together with Kanda and Ravi in 153 goes some way towards making up for it. Comradeship! Badassery!
- Damn. I think I like Kanda now, bland archetype that he is. It helps that he doesn't really need to be taken seriously. He's just a dumb jock who is entertainingly cranky and pretty!
Bleach 315
- I will not ship Ulquiorra/Orihime, or at least not on the basis of fraught and vaguely charged glances. Bad fan, no biscuit.
- Oh wait, never said what I thought about Bleach 314: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA good one, Aizen. Oh, hell yeah.
- Ooh, old dude Arrancar has a name, and along with Stark and Halibel will get to do stuff! Soon. One hopes.
- This means we get to see Tatsuki and Kon and Keigo and those guys again, right? Riiiiiiight?
- Well okay I wouldn't mind if the next chapter is dedicated to Ichigo getting whooped by Ulquiorra again. That would be pretty funny.
I won't be around much till about Sunday; going on a trip. Bye, everybody, and be prepared for the possibility of laaate comments when I get back. :D
