Since November 4th was a historic day in America and... I had no internet during it, I suppose I should copy and paste what I typed up in notepad the day after just for memories sake. =P
"I can say I was pretty pleasantly surprised last night by the presidential election. I'm glad that Obama won. I did vote for the man, after all. But I totally did not by any means think he as going to win as big as he did. Hell, I thought there was a real chance he could lose, but I knew if he was going to lose it was going to be a very long night. So seeing Obama not only win, but win in a very big way was... awesome. I expected to be up way past midnight and it was all over around 11:00pm EST. Obama won it before they could even announce who won some of the key battleground states. That's crazy, yo.
I still can't believe he won that big. I had been watching MSNBC for 2 weeks up until election day and they were all very optimistic about Obama pulling it off. He was up in the polls by a good percentage for weeks. But I kept reminding myself of the last election with John Kerry and how he was also ahead in the polls before election night and he lost. So I was going around for 2 weeks in my head saying, "the polls lie, the polls always lie!" I guess they didn't lie this time. lol
Yeah, I cried. It was really emotional to see everyone on tv who was at the rally in Chicago after they heard Obama had won the presidency. There was either shots of people crying uncontrollably or cheering. Hell, even Jesse Jackson was fucking crying, and previously he wanted to castrate Obama. LOL
It's just a great feeling to know that so many ethnic people can finally truly feel like they can do literally anything in this country now. It's great to know that African-Americans can tell their children that they can be president one day and not have it only be seen as a dream. They can tell their children this and not give it another thought.
And I have to say this... BWAHAHAHAHAHA BYE BYE SARAH PALIN. Thank god I don't have to hear about her for the next 4 years. I'll miss the SNL sketches, but that's it. With our luck, she'll get her own show on FOX News or some shit, though. Eh, I'd watch it..."
But uh... bad news on Prop 8 being passed in California. That's just depressing. One of the, if not THE MOST liberal state in our country bans gay marriage. Not too many other states have much hope if not even California can allow gays to marry. Unbelievable.
sarah palin,
barack obama
