Sooo... An update. And seeing as the Champions League is starting this week (well, the qualifiers don't really count, do they?), I'll talk about -what else?- football.
Sigh. I don't know if there's a football fan out there who can feel my sorrow. AEK and Arsenal, both after 3 league games, could have a combined total of 18 points. They have 5. AEK 3, Arsenal 2. And the situation in both teams is exactly the same. Both teams play attractive football (well, AEK not so much, since we lack players like Henry, Fabregas, Rosicky or Alex Song even. But we try.), both teams have about 15 shots on goal in every match, both teams find themselves trailing behind the opponents, always 1-0 down, both teams just can't score. It's painful.
Both teams had such a good start too. Arsenal versus Dinamo Zagreb, AEK versus Hearts. Maybe that's why? In AEK's case the fact we had to be in top form for the CL qualifiers in August could mean that we gave our best then and, after that, there was nowhere to go but down. Combined with the fact our summer signings haven't really been able to fulfill their potential (injuries, wrong system, bad form, GAH), it's a pretty valid explanation for our suckage bad start, with 3 draws in 3 games, two of which we should have won.
Arsenal, on top of the CL qualifiers, had 16 players in the World Cup. And, apart from Thomas Rosicky (whom I've loved forever, by the way), our signings haven't really had the chance to train with the team before being thrown in the fire. Not to mention, Thierry Henry is, well, in a grumpy mood. Like, March of last year grumpy. Eye-rolling and glaring and all. And darling Cesc is a bit tired. Perhaps we should follow The Special One's example and start rotating our players. We have too many midfielders anyway, I'd hate to see Cesc (who is extremely young even if his game suggests otherwise. Because he's brilliant.) burn out. Freddie is looking good though, much better than the non-threatening hard worker of last season, much closer to the old goal-scoring fighter we know and love.
And now, the Champion's League. AEK faces AC Milan in Milan (whoo hoo!!!11!!1! If we lose by more than 3-0 I'll die), and we're all saying how we've had our minds on that game ever since the CL draw, that's why we can't focus on the Greek league (yeah right). A good performance and a decent result would surely bring smiles back on our faces. Arsenal faces Hamburg in Germany (with Mad Jens ♥ returning to his homeland) and I hope we'll be able to grab a point or three. Milan is pretty much trouble-free (the voodoo clearly didn't work, damn. And that annoying Inzaghi is on fire. Also, I love Andrea Pirlo. He had better not score. Or create a goal. I'll cry.), but Hamburg has a few players out (most importantly Huan Pablo Sorin) so we'll see how the games work out.
You'd think I should be focusing on my Law School exam on the 19th. Nah. FOOTBALL!!!11!1! Oh God.
I'll leave you with some pictures to make up for the huge post:
But also, PICSPAM! Gooner picspam, to be precise. Not really dial-up friendly, and a bit unusual.
Arsene:
Wait, do you mean to tell me pics of Arsene won't make up for my rant? But why? Oh well. I think he's hot.
Freddie:
And Arsene! Gotcha! Heheh... OK, I'll stop.
Just Freddie:
(forget the watermark, focus on the lips. And the eyes.)
Freddie after the CL final, cheeks flushed and silver medal around his neck. No comment:
There's only one Dennis Bergkamp:
And only one Dave Seaman, too. And Petit! I love this picture more than words can say.
Dennis again:
A little Jens and Titi love after our amazing victory against Inter Milan (1-5, still brings me chills):
Jens and Le Bob (get well soon! *sob*):

A bit more Jens for good measure:
Random old Borussia Dortmund picture with Jens and a ridiculously young Thomas Rosicky:
A much more recent Thomas Rosicky in action (and with better hair):
Kolo Toure:

Theo in his debut for The Arsenal (yay!):
Our Alex (Hleb). I ♥ him:
Our Alex and darling Cesc (Alex is a jokester):
More Cesc:

Ralph Lauren, bitches. You got a problem with that?
He's the only one who even comes close to being as mad as Jens. And I love him for it.
Lastly, the men who kept us going last year. Jens and Kolo:
And Arsene! Gotcha again! Sorry, that was the last time.

Question (whoever reads this *no one*, feel free to answer): should I repost the picspam somewhere? I think I will. But where? It's about Arsenal, it's not exactly slashy, and it's not focused on a specific player. Maybe
football_addict? Or
football_hunks? What? Arsene isn't a hunk? You lie.
