Athens Law School: PWNED.

Sep 21, 2006 01:02

So. This is officially my first post as a Law School graduate. And, may I say:

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

Ahem.

I sat my final exam today: Administrative Law, Administrative Procedure, Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law. All together. See, in the final year of Law School we have subjects which are, basically, a composition of 4 or 5 previous similar subjects, all in one, only we study them in a more detailed fashion and we're more focused on case law as well as more sophisticated theoretical questions. Needless to say, it's HARD. But I passed!!!1!11!! And after 4 years of pain and suffering (I'm kidding. Kind of.), I finally have my degree. Bliss.

The thing is, it was an oral exam. Now, I'm always very relaxed and laid back and I'm never nervous before an exam (to the point where my friends actually call me before exams to calm them down), but when it's an oral exam and the factor "luck" comes in big time, things are different. I mean, what if the professor is having a bad day *cough* and he takes it out on me *cough*? Not that that's ever happened yeah right. Ass.. What if he asks me a random detail I won't be able to remember due to stress? It's no wonder I had this awful stomache ache yesterday and my heart was pounding all day. I mean, it was my last exam. And if I failed, I'd have to take it again in February *shudders*. Thankfully, I did OK today (better than I thought, actually) so I'm DONE, BITCHEZ! I can now officially say my degree is PWNED. By me.

I'm so happy.

Now on to a postgraduate degree. Problem is, I want a degree on Public International Law. And in Athens the PIL postgraduate programme only has accepts applications every other year (it's a 2-year programme, so I guess it makes sense). Last year there were no openings, and, as logic would dictate, this year students should be able to interview and join the programme normally. Right? WRONG. I worked hard to get my degree in 4 years (the average is 6) just so I wouldn't miss this year's opening, and apparently it was for nothing. Almost all of the other programmes are already accepting applications, but no word from the PIL division. I can only say I am miffed. I think I'll apply for the (boring) Civil Law programme (I've got a pretty good average) just to have my bases covered.

What does this mean? I've always been planning to study for a postgraduate degree in England, so instead of going in 2 years (which would happen if I were to study in Greece first), I'll just work for a while and leave for England in one year. Hopefully London (London School of Economics? Please? Can you hear me? University College London, how about you?), although I'm reading very good things about Durham and Nottingham has a kick-ass European Law programme I'd love to join. Also, Scotland (well, Edinburgh) seems pretty appealing, too. We'll see (I might also apply for Oxford. Ha. My average is probably marginally not good enough and I'm not a wunderkind or anything, but it doesn't hurt to try.).

If I do manage to go to London, you know what that means: I'll be able to watch Arsenal play! On a regular basis! YAY! (is it too much to hope Jens will have another amazing season and he'll stay on for another year? Just so I can watch him? No, you say? Well, hope never dies. And, if nothing else, Cesc will definitely still be there, Freddie too. Not to mention Arsene.)

Random picture of Luis Figo nonchalantly fondling some dude's thigh as though he's done it a million times before, just because:

Here's another one (no thigh this time):

*licks*
