Helping Hands Humane Society is my local shelter. They are working very hard to convert to a no-kill, and have already moved to a system where there isn't a ticking clock on animals. They're also working on renovating a brand new to them facility (the building was donated by Kroger when they closed one of their Dillon's stores in town, but as you might guess the inside of a grocery store is not exactly appropriate as is for a shelter. They've also had to construct some outdoor play space for the critters), so as always they are in need of money.
That said, if there's a charity on here that you like better or helps out your local groups, certainly vote for them. The prize is $1000 and the top 5 vote-getters for the month have a chance at that.

Discount Pet Medication.net And while you're at it, check out
FreeKibble and
FreeKibbleKat. Answer a trivia question to donate kibble to animal shelters. The site is sponsored by Halo which makes one of the highest quality pet foods on the market. It's not a lot (10 pieces of kibble for each), but the numbers really add up when a lot of people participate. Kind of reminds me off the
FreeRice website, except there you're feeding humans, and you can answer more than one trivia question a day. Of course there, you've got to get them right too.
