The Angel Chronicles: General Thoughts
Ok, so tbh I hated S3. Well, not hated. But it was kinda too depressing. The Darla plotline was good, but I could never get into the baby!Connor story cos I know of him when he's older. But anyway - thoughts!
1: Fred/Gunn
Ok, I love this couple. And it's not just softly_me's spam that persuaded me. Double or Nothing was a fantastic episode, showing how brilliant they are as a couple, how they love each other, what they would do for each other. Though I would have much preferred Fred to be the one gambling for Gunn's soul. Having Angel do it was a bit of a slap in the face - the episode was supposed to be about them as a couple, as equals, so having Angel save Gunn was just not the point, I felt. I mean it's like yeah, Gunn can die to save Fred, but she can't even think to gamble her life to save his. Grrrr. Because with her mad maths skills I'm sure she could have been able to gamble. Or if not, it would have been great to see her step up to save him. But this isn't a Fred rant. This is a writer rant.
Apart from this blunder, the episode was great. And I now officially ship this. I love Wes/Fred, but the problem with that is though Fred's perfect for Wesley (because come on, she is), he's not perfect for her. To her he's like a brother, someone too similar. Whereas Gunn is different enough to be attractive, and yet they have this affinity that makes them work. And Fred's perfect for Gunn. It's a great love triangle. I say bring back the bromance and let the love flow every which way! Genius solution.
2: Connor
I know he's the most hated AtS character but omg I love him already. Might be that he's the AtS Peter Pan (even mentioned by Gunn like 2 seconds after I thought it!), and I adore Peter Pan. Had a crush on him as a kid, and I've read the book so many times it's falling apart. I know Connor's two years younger than me (he's 17, right?) but wow hotness. If I had watched this show as a teenager I would love him so much. Plus the concept for the character's great - I love a tortured soul :D I'm gonna have to wait and see ofc - atm I've seen exactly 3 minutes of him... But yeah. I'm hoping this love lasts because I have a way of gravitating towards hated characters (Kennedy ftw) and would like to keep it that way :D (Even though I know icky stuff happens, but I aim to blame the writers for that!)
So those are my thoughts. I have a few icons to post and the rest of my Ideal Character spam to do, so that's coming soon. Probably tomorrow, as I have no lectures. Anyway, I'm off to watch more AtS, as the guy downstairs, lovely as he is, has decided to watch a movie with lots of explosions. Sigh. He normally stops by 3 though. He's considerate that way.
Oh, and the snow here is over a foot deep! We made an ice fort today, and I made myself Queen (I even had an ice throne!) until they had a revolution, overthrew me, renamed me Murray, and created a Communist State instead.
