Good News

In all the "doom and gloom" that's been happening in my life lately, a piece of good news came my way. I recently auditioned with a local community theater and have been cast. Not only that, but the director asked me to be the Assistant Director. So, I get to do double duty. Woo hoo! I'm excited about beefing up my resume some more, and I just LOVE theater. I thought I wasn't going to be able to do it any more, but after going to auditions, I got that spark back. I remembered why I loved it so much, and it just reminded me that theater needs to be a part of my life. Best of both worlds, I would get paid to act, but I'm happy to be acting at all really. :)

The job search continues with no luck so far. You'd think with all the postings on craigslist and other sites and my meeting the qualifications, that I'd get hired. Guess the employers are being as picky as the job seekers. Just because someone comes along who can do the job doesn't mean they hire. No, they'd rather keep looking until the find the "perfect" candidate. Oh well.

I have another audition on Sunday (which I am still preparing for) and I can't believe it, but it's already time to start thinking about the Outdoor Drama auditions in March. They advertised that rooms in hotels would be available in January and that registration started then too. It's kind of like SETC (South Eastern Theater Conference) but for outdoor theaters and they are from all over the US, not just the east side.

Oh, and just a side note in case you didn't know, it's always "break a leg" and never "good luck" when you want to wish an actor well for an audition or show. :) Perhaps I helped you learn your new thing for the day.
