Do you all help friends financially?
An old friend from high school is in a jam and asked for monetary help. He has gainful employment but his car took a major dump and unless he can get it fixed he can't get to work. He would be good for repayments, but it sure is a lot of money. $1k.
I've been trying to help my friends whenever possible ever since my Dad passed, I'm not rolling in money but I do have a safety net. If my friend chokes and doesn't pay me back I would feel it though. I know sometimes you just need a little help. The red flag is that his parents agreed to help him but then backed out. I have to wonder why. He said they're trying out "tough love"... which could mean anything.
Ugh. It's not like he picked me out of a crowd to ask, we reconnected a year or so through facebook and he doesn't live all too far from here. But we're not THAT close, if you know what I mean. I think I could easily get away with saying "Gosh, I don't have that kind of money laying around!" but I also know what it's like to be desperate. I think we've all been there.
