Work related venting

Mar 23, 2007 16:20

I've been meaning to post a con report for Lunacon last weekend, but work has been a nightmare this week.  I will get to it.

Meanwhile, I have just heard from three separate septuagenarian literary agents who are deeply offended that their negotiations are not at the very top of my pile, just based on the fact that each of them is the agent.  My late afternoon Friday fantasy response to them:

"I do ever so beg your pardon.  I shall summon my coach and four upon the nonce, and fly to your establishment where I might make amends for my transgression.  We shall discuss the matter over tea and biscuits, and conclude the arrangements this very day with a hearty and binding handshake, in lieu of a contract."

My real response is, of course: "Welcome to the 21st Century, where, if you only sell us one midlist book every three years, you DO NOT rate as a priority (unless my publisher tells me you do, and he hasn't)!"

Bleeh!

Now I'm getting ready to go off to Christina's first softball practice of the year.  We stayed with the same coach and team as last year, so there is much happiness in the Fodera house, if little joy at the office.
