It's been rather a reasonable few days, despite fate's attempted impediments.

Tuesday I managed to take all the skin off my knee and it's only started healing now, which combined with bruises all down one arm it looks like I've been a victim of some sort of abuse. Pavements, especially those pretending to be smooth and safe, are not to be trusted.

Everything's coming together at last. The oven and hob are in, as is the new washer-dryer. My wardrobe arrives this afternoon, as do the chairs for the dining table. We have the fridge-freezer, dishwasher, sofa, dining table, beds, chests of drawers, tv, shelves. All we need now is a wardrobe for the Gent ( Read more... )

I found a small restaurant called Nambu-Tei last week, when my Finnish guest and I were up in Baker Street hoping to find a vaguely Sherlockian cafe to satisfy her cravings for Very English Things involving her favourite detective.
