I'm so far behind the times.... The last I heard, corn *on* the cob was anathema to Brits/Europeans, and sweet corn cut off the cob wasn't much of an improvement. Seemed too much like "fodder for beasts of the field," is how we used to hear it was being viewed on your side of the pond.
So now you've got me curious: when did that change?

Field corn products are good, too. Corn bread, corn pone, hush puppies, hominy grits (I think those are done with field corn!), corn 'cakes' (griddle cakes made with a corn-meal batter), corn *fritters* (oh, there was *nothing* to beat my mother's corn fritters!).....
I may have to go *cook* something..... :D

Corn on the cob is dee-lish with a good grade of extra virgin olive oil and a delicate sprinkling of salt (and black pepper to taste, of course) with sliced tomatoes fresh from the vine... Perfect for a summer's evening meal.
