Arrived in Taipei
I started my journey at 7:30 am on Dec. 18th, 2007 when I left for the Sacramento Airport. I arrived at 8:00 am only to find that the flights from Sac to San Francisco had been canceled and a bunch of us on International flights leaving from San Francisco were piled on a Super Shuttle.
We arrived at SFO at 10:30...and then I waited and waited for 2 hours in what felt like the line for the most un-fun ride at Disneyland just to check in. Thankfully, the security line was short and I was soon on my way...on a 14 hour flight to Taipei that crosses the International Date line. After 3 in-flight movies(The Invasion, No Reservations and The Ultimate Gift), 2 meals and a snack I arrived at 7:37 pm on Dec. 19th. One of two (they are a pair of twins) of my oldest friends met me at the airport and we took a 45 min bus ride from the International airport to Taipei. The city is busy but quiet, there are lots and lots of mopeds on the streets along with the cars. We walked about 15 minutes from the bus stop through tree-lined streets and air heavy with the smell of population and arrived in their cute 2 bedroom apartment. Her sister was busy making dinner and I enjoyed a nice meal of broccoli, Taro Root cake with soy and garlic sauce.
After a full day of travel (it's 7:40 am 12/19/07 on my internal clock, but 11:30 pm on 12/19/07) here, I'm tucking in for a good night's rest. =)
