Hmm...it's supposed to get better right?

Got into work by 5:30 am and left? Around 9:00 pm. Hmm, I thought this should be getting easier with me getting out on time, but easier said than done when you have to round on 8 post partum patients in the morning, none of whom you are familiar with...and there is Zero, none, Zip info on when they delivered, how they delivered (vaginal delivery OR c/s) in the sign out list you get from the weekend. Of course, these are just growing pains...since eventually we will know to update the lists for each other, update the list as the day goes along, etc... There is just nothing like trying to report on 8 patients you've seen in the morning, all looking/feeling well with exams to match but can't really comment on specifics like their age, this kid is # X of y total and route delivered with or without complications.

Luckily, or maybe part of the craziness for the day, is that I had to run out to go take a shuttle half-way across town to the County hospital where I will see my very own continuity clinic patients one half-day a week. I'm always happier when I arrive at the County hospital and after our orientation today and very much looking forward to seeing my first OB patients (that I will follow throughout their pregnancy) and some gyn patients. I get a placard for the clinic door, Delirium1995 MD, and my own business cards to hand out to my patients so they can have their follow up appointments scheduled. It's all so very real, so quickly.

When I got home, my roomie, who is a very good cook had made dinner and she set out a plate for me. I got to enjoy a nice dinner while watching about 15-20 minutes of "The Princess Bride" which still always cheers me up and makes me laugh. "Have fun storming the castle!" Indeed!

Alas, I must go away to bed, to be up before the rooster crows (or very darn near it!),
-Del, now very sleepy with a full tasty meal in her belly.
