surprises

So this was actually a brilliant surprise. We've been thinking about going to see Inception, so I thought Wednesday afternoon would be a good time to go, after J was done volunteering at the downtown shelter. Yesterday morning I was going on and on about meeting him at the shelter at 3.45 so we could go to the 4.10 show, and he was oddly quite uninterested in it.

I was clearly not suspicious enough, so he finally wandered over to my desk and said, "I was going to do this when I came back, but I was afraid you were going to go to the movie."

I think I may have wept. Just a little bit. He'd gotten the tickets a week ago, because months ago we'd seen the ad for the concert at the baseball game, and I was all, "oh how I'd LOVE to go see Bon Jovi, but it's probably too expensive..."

J even wore my old Bon Jovi sweater. He cut the sleeves off.

We were sitting So High Up and So Far Away. The concert was held in the Dome, where we go to see the baseball games, and at the baseball games we're always sitting in nosebleed section. It seemed appropriate that at the Bon Jovi concert we'd be sitting in the same section. The dome is HUGE, and the place was just ridiculously packed. There had to be at least 45,000 people there, and it was the second of two nights they played here. It was such a brilliant performance. Bon Jovi really knows how to put on a show. I didn't want it to end.

It is strange to think that exactly 15 years ago I attended my first concert ever, and it was in the mosh pit (standing room) at the Indoor Stadium in Singapore, to see Bon Jovi. Sometimes I think, deep down inside, I'll always be that teenage girl still crazy about Jon Bon Jovi - particularly of the 1992 Keep the Faith era.

Thanks J - it was a beautiful surprise, and I had so much fun last night. :)
