Projects! Or, elaborate and constructive forms of procrastination.

I have acquired laboratory grade glassware. And in the process, baffled and confused the laboratory supply company receptionist, who doesn't know how I managed to get a discount out of the General Manager. Who is a Scot. I don't know either, but when we discussed what I was going to do with it, he promised me an ongoing further discount on future glassware if I brought him some of my concentrate.

(I even got him to sign off on it, too! Right on the catalogue.)

The tally was one 2L conical (Erlenmeyer) flask, two 1L bottles with polyprop screwtops, two polyprop funnels, 100-pack filter paper, one retort stand with clamp. All for just under $70.

I have just acquired freshly ground (drip pot grind) coffee, roasted only yesterday afternoon. Into the conical flask it goes (1 cup with 1.5L deionised water, or 1:6). I'm going to give it a try with a 24 hour infusion. Next attempt will be at a 1:4 ratio for 12 hours. Then check for differences and to gauge the direction I want to go in.

...I also scored a fresh (laid Monday) ostrich egg for 60% off as it was slightly broken. It is the size of a baby's head with a surprisingly thick shell like porcelain. Omelettes all 'round, methinks.

(Stop laughing at me. Like I could resist the deal, come on!)
