Eh heh.
One of the trials for the Masquerade piece at Swancon - cutting apart cyalume sticks to obtain the pretty shiny aqueous humour fluid within.
Worked well. The cheap pocketknife I bought the other day made short work of the plastic casing, and one gets a surprisingly small amount of fluid for the size. Best yield obviously from the baton-sized ones.
I cleaned up with soap and water - the fluid dried into a white residue on my skin and blade - then threw the bits of glass ampoule into my sharps container*.
Had to smile at the sight of a safety yellow plastic container marked "Danger - Clinical Waste" glowing cheerfully on the bathroom countertop.
*Left over from the ovum donation days when I had to self-inject with the hormones and needed someplace to discard the needles.
