Sho made a face and stuck his tongue out at Aiba's cheeky comment. "Very sure," he replied firmly.

Sho watched Aiba closely as the other tried to think of a plan, catching a glimpse of the other man's nervousness. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing to be nervous. It made sure that they were aware of the dangers and thought things through before doing something stupid. He laughed as the other suggested bread as a bait. "Maybe if it's a vegetarian dragon? I think most dragons tend to prefer meat, and we have to make sure that it doesn't see us as meat."

Sho though over the problem for a moment. It would be good to have something as bait, or a distraction, but what? He certainly didn't want to have Aiba as a distraction as the other didn't have armor. And he didn't want to use the horses either. They still needed them to get home. "Maybe... maybe I can be the distraction, I have armor, so it shouldn't be too risky, then you can sneak up on it from behind?" Sho knew it wasn't the best plan ever, but it was better than nothing?

Aiba opened his mouth to protest about putting the other in harms way as being bait but fell silent. He couldn't think of a better idea to draw out the dragon. Didn't even know what a real dragon sounded like so trying to draw it out mimicking noises wouldn't have worked. He didn't have any protection and Sho did.

Biting down on his bottom lip, he gave a slow nod. "If you be really careful?" Sneaking up from behind a creature that was probably who knows how many times bigger than him. Turning in the saddle, he looked down to his own sword, at least he had some sort of weapon to use.

With a determined look now set on his face to keep himself focused and not worried about some scary dragon trying to eat them, Aiba slipped off the horse and led her into the bushes to hide. "Best we walk the rest of the way?"

(ooc: that's okay xD! I figured that's what happened~)

Sho watched Aiba carefully as the other opened his mouth then closed it, almost hoping that the other would protest in some way, come up with a brilliant plan to slay the dragon yet keep them both out of harm's way. His chest tightened as the other nodded slowly. This was really happening and he couldn't see a way out of it without looking like a coward. "I'll be careful," Sho promised. "I can run fast." Especially when I'm scared, he thought to himself. "So I should be able to stay out of the worst danger ( ... )

"Oh good. So can I~ But we wont need to run. Things will go fine~ I can tell," Aiba pointed out, trying to look less worried than he felt about having Sho become dragon bait.

"Yup! Before either of us run with our tails behind our legs~" Aiba let out a cheerful laugh as he tried to keep the mood light, taking a jump towards Sho and tugging the other lightly to go off and around to where the entrance to the cave was more than likely located.

His grip tightened on the hilt of his sword, getting a feeling for the slightly heavy weapon as he felt silent. Trying to think back to all the movies he'd watched, anything that might help defeat a dragon. Even though hollywood and real had nothing to do with one another.

Turning to glance at Sho every so often, making sure the other was still behind him, he offered a comforting smile. "At least we're going to have one hell of a story to tell when we get back. Remind me that drinks are on me." If we get out of here alive. That last part was better left unsaid.

Sho tried to relax as Aiba reassured him that everything would be fine. It worked, to a certain extent, but becoming dragon bait was something he just couldn't shake off. He tried to smile as Aiba laughed and pulled him along, but the smile was weak and may have wavered a bit.

The grin steadied for a bit, but only for a moment, as Aiba mentioned going out for drinks. It would be nice to see the other man in the real world, when they weren't lost or confused or facing a hungry dragon. It would be very nice. Sho tried to cling to that thought, cling to thinking about after they defeated the dragon, as they continued to walk toward the mountain ( ... )

Aiba let out a soft noise as he was pulled down into the bush, instead of crouching, he ended up landing on his rear. Ignoring the slight jolt of pain from his uncomfortable landing, he glanced over to Sho to hear what the other had stopped them for.

"Right! Uh, that...sounds like a plan!" He kept his voice low, just in case the dragon has super power hearing and could hear them talking... Aiba's mind was already starting to get the best of him. Reaching over, he gave a squeeze to the other's arm. This was, unfortunately the only plan that they had.

"Sorry, don't have much of anything that would help," muttering his quick apology to not adding to the plan, he pushed himself up and with one last glance and a 'good luck' Aiba was moving to get into position.

Sho patted Aiba's shoulder sympathetically as the other apologized. It wasn't his fault. What sane person ever that they would be faced with fighting a dragon? The thought had certainly never crossed Sho's mind ( ... )

Coming up around the side, Aiba kept himself flattened against the cool rocky wall as he inched his way closer to the edge of the cave. Sho came into view, and he couldn't help but cringe as the other shouted out into the dark hole. He held his breath and waited.

Nothing.

Looking over to Sho, he pushed himself away from the wall and tried to get the other man's attention. "Toss a rock!" He cupped a hand to the side of his mouth, trying to keep his voice hushed and at the same time heard by the other. His free hand making the motion of tossing something to give the other the idea, just in case he wasn't understood with his words.

Sho held his breathe, eyes widening as he waited for the dragon to make its appearance. But it never came. Sho looked helplessly over at Aiba, who was trying to get his attention. Floss a stalk? His face crinkled in thought, Sho couldn't make out the meaning of the other man's words. He looked back up after a moment and caught sight of Aiba mimicking throwing. Toss a rock. That made much more sense. Sho froze as the meaning sunk in. Seriously? Toss a rock? At a dragon?

Sho was tempted to yell back that he didn't want to throw a rock at the dragon. It was bad enough that he was standing at the mouth of a dragon cave, yelling, but throwing a rock might aggravate it. Sure, he was supposed to be acting as dragon bait, but his nerve was starting to run out. His brain was finally catching up with the events of the day, and his brain didn't like what it saw ( ... )

Aiba tried to give a reassuring grin and guesture to let the other know it was a good idea. Not exactly a good idea, but it was something. Maybe the dragon was taking a nap? Or something?

He let out a sharp hitched breath as the other finally seemed to get was he was trying to say and picked up a rock. Sho tossed the rock into the dark cave. Then disappointingly nothing happened. And again, another rock, and nothing. It didn't sound like there was anything inside.

Letting out a shaky breath, Aiba moved from his hiding spot and followed the other closer to the entrance of the cave. Hands reaching out to Sho's arm, a little bit of comfort in knowing that he wasn't alone in this.

"Maybe the townspeople are crazy and there's really no such things as dragons?" He leaned towards Sho's ear and whispered his words before looking back. He thought he heard...something. "Did you hear anything?"

Sho felt a small amount of relief as Aiba joined him at the mouth of the cave, unconsciously clinging to the outstretched hands. Sho nodded. Maybe the towns people were crazy. He certainly hoped so. The idea of this being a grand adventure had wore off quickly, and Sho wanted to be no where near the dragon's cave.

He froze at Aiba's question. Hear? Something? Sho, in fact, did not hear anything. He had been too focused on the possibility, on the hope, that the dragon was a myth. That didn't stop Sho from freaking out, however. "N-no?" Sho replied shakily, clinging even harder to Aiba's arms. Despite the fact that he wanted nothing more than to run far away, Sho peered into the entrance of the cave, suddenly jumping back with a yell. "I-I saw something!" Sure he couldn't say what he saw. It was more of a dark shadow in the dark cave, but it was something and it had moved.

Aiba had been about to let out an exaggerated sigh at having been sent off on a silly mission to find a dragon that didn't even exist when Sho jumped back into him. He froze, leaning over Sho's shoulder as he tried to see into the pitch black cave. Even while squinting as hard as he could, he couldn't see anything.

"A-are you sure? I...I can't see anything?" Voice hushed as he shifted closer to the other man's ear. His fingers gripped Sho tighter, trying to force himself to stay rooted to the ground and not drag Sho back and get as far away as possible. "Maybe, maybe you should toss in another rock?" Just to be sure... Though, something in the pit of Aiba's stomach was telling him it wouldn't be a good idea.

Still staring into the cave's entrance, Sho leaned back into the presence behind him, ready to stumble backwards then run out of there. Sho nodded silently at Aiba's question, not trusting that his voice still worked.

"B-but I don't want to throw another rock," Sho replied weakly, his voice barely a whisper. Not paying attention to his common sense, Sho bent over, picking up a third rock, then throwing it into the cave. He waited for a few breathless moments, hoping that they would hear a third empty echo, that the cave would be empty and they could go home again. Instead, the rock hit something soft before bouncing onto the ground, a quiet yelp coming out of that 'something soft.' Sho stood there dumbstruck. That did not sound like something that would come from a dragon, not even a little dragon. It sounded more like... a dog ( ... )

"Just do it!" Aiba pushed back, his voice just as small as Sho's, still cowering behind the other man. What a pair of knights they made, standing there shaking like little children in front of a quiet, dark cave. Aiba would later on laugh at this. If he ever ended up getting home after this.

The yelp brought him back from his thoughts, and even caused him to jump back. Startled by the noise which was far too small to have come from any dragon. Unless it was a baby dragon? Or something...His head jerked up at Sho's realization to what was inside the cave as the 'scary beast' finally appeared.

"They wanted us to rescue...her...dog?" Aiba cocked his head to the side, blinking blankly at the animal that looked at them from the entrance. Part of him was disappointed that there was no dragon, and still very relieved. It took him a moment to pull himself back before he was bouncing over to the dog and Sho, hands going out to ruffle at the soft fur. "And such a pretty puppy too~ Princess should learn to take better care of her pets."

If Aiba was partially disappointed about the lack of a real dragon, Sho was completely grateful. Sure, fighting a dragon, or even seeing one, would make for a great story, but who would believe him besides Nino, and Nino might not even believe him. It really was one of those experiences that he could live without. Really.

As Aiba joined him in the cave, Sho suddenly broke into hysterical laughter. The other's seemingly normal comment seemed ridiculous in light of the day's events. The heavy weight of the armor suddenly became too heavy for Sho's tired body to support, and he collapsed onto the ground with a loud clang of armor. Gasping as he tried to stop laughing and control his breathing, Sho pulled off his helmet. "I-I don't think I need this anymore," he commented, breathless and limp with relief that there was no real dragon.

Aiba paused in his praising of the animal to toss an amused grin at Sho, unable to keep himself from joining in with the hysterical, uncontrolled laughter. This situation was humorous no matter how one looked at it.

"Not done yet, you know. They're going to want you to marry the princess!" Aiba teased, still a bit breathless from all that laughing. He fell back onto his behind when his legs started to feel like they could use a good rest. It was a few more moments did he completely fall backwards, spread out on the uncomfortable gravel, not that he really cared. Eyes falling up to the fluffy clouds as Dragon sniffed at his hand, demanding for more petting.
