Yesterday, I was all inspired by Rachel Ray. I had started meatloaf and roasted red potatoes (sprinkeled with Ramano and Parmasean). She was making mushroom pasta, and I remembered I had mushrooms left over from making pizza last week. So I threw those on with some carmalized sweet yellow onions. Then she made some wilted spinache with crunchy bacon bits. I had bought bacon at the store earlier because it was on sale, so a few slices went on then I threw a little of the drippings in with some chicken broth into the mushrooms and threw on the bag of spinache that was on its way to wilting on its own in the fridge. No one ate it but me. which was sad. but tasty.
Today, I read an article that pointed out that this spring is the first time that all 14 states along the Appilation Trail are allowing concealed carry. Last year there were a huge amount of violent crimes along the trail, so there is a lot of debate about wether hikers should carry or not. There is legal precedent in all 50 states that show that the police are not responsible for your safety. I think that is something everyone should keep in mind. I don't think you should start familiarizing yourself with fire arms on your vacation hiking in the woods. If you are going to carry, I think you should practice shooting and drawing on a regular basis, at least once a month.
Husband is late getting home because he decided to drive by the tea party in downtown Dallas. He found a free parking spot, so he's walking around. I keep hearing on the news that these are a protest against taxes, when that barely begins to cover what people are mad about.
I also heard someone say that there would be no raising taxes for poor people. What bull crap. How much did ciggerettes just go up? That's not because the tobbacco company want your money. Okay, they want your money, but they don't want to raise the price so high that you will stop smoking. The tax is because the government wants our money, and smokers deserve it because they know they are killing themselves by sucking down cancer stix. We are going to get hit with sales tax and fees for buying luxery items. So we just won't buy them anymore. and then the people and manufacturers that make those items are going to go out of buisness. What happened when the tobbacco companies had to pay huge fees for making ciggerettes addictive? Kraft Mac and cheese doubled in price. Phillip Morris owns Kraft and they just raised the price of all the other goods they sell. The state of Texas is dicussing raising the registration fees for a car coming from another state to $900. which is rediculous. People moving here are doing so to work and spend money here, and it is expensive enough to move a household, adding $900, or $1800 for a 2 car family is just too much. We will all pay for this. Nothing is free, especially not hand outs.
Also, I added reviews for Nation and Bone Crossed. Everyone should read Nation. It was wonderful. Bone Crossed was awesome too, but not everyone likes shifter/were/vampire/fairy adventuring, but that's totally my cup of tea.
I dug the big botle of Loki's out of the bottom of the pantry. I wanted to check the test before I took it to a birthday party in a couple of weeks. If I have to doctor it, it needs to be now. Anyway. It is super dark. Tasty, but the color is way different from that it has been before. My husband sniffed it, and declared it too sweet. I think it's just right.
