We had an awesome weekend.  I tried to pack on Thursday night, but found that the bag I wanted to pack in was full of old network switches.  My husband couldn't understand why I didn't want to use the bag that was comparable, but a little smaller.  He just didn't see why he should bother emptying his crap out of my bag when there was another bag.  I couldn't explain to his satisfaction why I wanted the bag that I like to use and didn't want to just go use the other one.  To keep from throwing a switch at his head, I went to bed without finishing packing.

I went to work on Friday. Husband got off early and picked up my car.  He attempted to clean it out.  We eventually left town around 6pm and arrived at my Grandfather's place around 8.  Actually, his land is next to a Christian Camp.  He has knocked over enough trees and rebuilt enough engines for them, that whenever we have distant relatives come in, they let us use one of their lodges.  There was only 2 of the surviving sisters, but 4 cousins came in, and a couple of their kids.  Mine were the only children, except my cousin who is in high school and another cousin who is now in college.

It was fun.  We all talked, ate, hiked and read all weekend.  On Sunday, someone my Mom has met at the Dallas library Geneology section showed up.  He has been trading information with a cousin and my Mom online and is decended from my Great-great grandfather's brother.  That;s the way it was explained.  Wouldn't that mean that we have the same Great-great-great grandparents?  It was too funny.  They started talking ancestors, and suddenly the table was covered in laptops and they were trading flash drives.

The man's son came with him.  I was a little shocked, becaise he is a local radio guy... and I recognized him.  It felt really surreal for a little while.  His daughters were really sweet.  The oldest is 7.  When she got out her DS, she and D had their little blond heads together until we had to head home.  S was napping.  We packed up around him, and when he woke up, we headed straight to the car, with quick run through goodbyes.  If relatives were in the bathroom, I totally missed saying goodbye to them.

The kids were so tired that we stopped at fast food restaurants once we got close to home, and then Husband went to get the two of us barbeque.
