Yesterday was great. I hadn't had my sun glasses since the day my parent's house was burlgerized. I don't know where they went. We stopped at Walmart for ammo. yes, ammo. And my husband picked up a new pair of clip ons while he was inside. It was so sweet and thoughtful.
I got to meet my cousin's woman. They are living together in Ft Worth. He is all scruffy, hippie looking now. I like her. We had lunch and watched Kung Fu Panda. Daddy and D went to the gun range with my Dad and uncle and she got to shoot an AR-15. Evidently they had a lot of fun. The range has metal targets that clang and spin when you hit them.
Here is an article on Tor Books, libertarianism, and Cory Doctorow's Little Brother. The book is excellent and you should go read it now.
You can down load it here, just ignore the ads and shoutouts. I am now reading Old Man's War by John Scalzi. It is excellent. It reminds me of Starship Troopers, the book not the movie. Set somewhere in the future, over populated countries have the option of letting their citizens go out to colonize the universe. US citizens don't qualify to be colonists, but at age 65 can sign up to go out with the Colonial Defense Force. At 75, you take the space elevator up and jump onto a space ship, and then noone knows. You are declared dead on earth, and you are never heard from again. Everyone knows that the CDF does something to fix your body and give you more healthy life, even though the contract also says if you are told to go shoot someone in a war, you go. It is a very interesting read. I will probably get more of his books.
