Well well what do you know, we should've done this a long time ago!

Livejournal wouldn't let me onto their site for the longest time, but now they'e being nice and letting me update during the one free moment I have today. There's a lot to cover, so naturally I'm going to forget about most of it. Here's what I do remember:

Cabaret came and went. It was the 1987 version of the show: to summerize, it's slightly different from the version I did at Forestburgh. Some of the differences I really loved (Matt Maggio as the EMCEE- imagine Joel Grey and Cesear Romero's Joker put together),and some things I didn't (The Telephone Dance- load of crap). Second weekend of shows were much tighter than the first, and the crowds were much bigger. THursday night show the door knob on a set came loose inside the door, which caused some unexpected hilarity on stage when Andrew tried to open it with no luck. Even though the final show landed on Halloween (and homecoming for BSC), we still had a good turn out and strike went very smooth.

Braintree High's auditorium is pretty damn beautiful looking. New rug, new chairs (one that features the small plate saying "In Honor of Al Forgione"), new curtains (sans saftey pins!), new lighting equipment and instruments, new sound equipment, plus the light booth and the backstage area painted black. This is all great, the downside is now everyone wants to hold events in there which caused us to fall behind in building Bells Are Ringing. The week before tech week (and the week after Cabaret) we were there all week building and painting like crazy. Light crew was working too, or at least claim to be working. Light and Sound crew has hit a new level of incompetence, which can make things very frustrating.

Tech week for Bells Are Ringing was chaotic. Lots of big sets and crazy set changes caused for some very stressful rehearsals. Plus most of running crew are new and I don't they full got what they were getting thenselves into until they were there. Props crew is also kind of a mess. Paint crew has been in the auditorium nonstop getting everything ready for opening night. I give them credit for pulling through all those long hours getting everything done in time.

Opening night for Bells Are Ringing was last night, complete with all the usual triangle flag, skittles, and Renegade traditions. The Guy Wamrm Up this year was weak and sad, as well as the Whoa Tech at the end of the show. Me and Jason will be doing something about this. I'm all for half of TG to be doing it for the social aspect, but if you're going to suck at the traditions as much as you suck at being productive, then what's the point of you being there? I'm not biiter at everyone who is pointless, I swear. Thankfully, opening night for the show was the smoothest opening night Braintree High has had in years. The tech crew was quick and quiet and they nailed every scene change. I had some down time and managed to sneak up to the catwalk to watch some of the show, and I couldn't hear the crew at all from the audience. By the time the curtain opened all the sets were in place and there were no techies to be seen. I'm proud of them, they made some huge improvements in the last week. Even during the week when we were still finalizing all the sets they were all working in a frenzy; working better than they had in the last few months. Their excitment and hard work makes me excited for tonights show and tomorrow two shows.

I'm hoping that since the auditorium is all sparkly and new, and the fact that this is Rolf's twentieth show, makes for a decent amount of alumni to see the show. It'd be nice to see some of the old pople again.

ME: We're going to be the next Harold Prince and Stephen Sodheim, except without the beards.

MATT: First of all, Phil doesn't smoke crack because he is a gentleman.

ME: You guys were great tonight. You guys were quiet and you got everyone done right. Great job and be proud of yourselves...SO DON'T FUCK IT UP TOMORROW!
