Who said death didn't resolve anything?

Continued from hereSilent were his shared thoughts with Athena: “Even fate can not always foresee potential danger to herself until the hour is already nigh. Don’t fret Wisdom, you’re aware that there is always an answer; only through the passing of time are some found ( Read more... )

Watching the Lady of the House stand, proceed toward him in a moment he beheld in leisure and extending a sweet gesture of affection upon the Sea Emperor's head Thanatos simply smiled. Next he watched her delicate soft fingers slide against and slip through the slots of space that separated his. The starburst of sensations shared at that touch was something he physically showed no sign of feeling even though he had. Oh had he.

Death of all creatures knew better than to make plans, but if he were to fancy making… plans? Even if said plans were temporal if not vain and easy to deteriorate sometimes before their time came to take place. These plans would involve this companion and it was something in itself unexplainable to him, for they were still not so very well acquainted. Uncanny and Unknown and yet Alluring he guessed he was as much to her as much as she were to him.

Though the reasons for his return home were somber, he anticipated with a certain hidden excitement of taking her home with him to meet Athena and see Hades once again. There was something about an item for it to be an official item in the eyes of others it had to be seen, which wouldn't mean much to him for just being in her presence was enough, but she made him...want to show. He was proud to be in her company, something that didn't have to be shared with others but he felt he wanted to share with those close to him. But was it particularly wise? He thought of what he'd told his brother---The Burning One about being with the erote. And yet he didn’t see how anyone could object to her.

A single moment after The Lady had accepted his hand, a moment that had turned over at the speed of light, they stood in his Underworld.

She drew in breath quietly, somewhat startled at the shifting. It had not been gentle or gradual, but something faster, something stronger. She wasn't entirely sure that she didn't like it, but it was still quite surprising to her. She usually faded in and out, and although it was fast, it never had felt like that. Slowly, a smile came to her mouth. It must be another part of her Greek counterpart, and that meant that it was to be cherished.

And then they were in the Underworld of the Greeks. That breath escaped her again in a gasp. How beautiful! How utterly gorgeous! Her eyes widened as she took in the darkness of the place. Rather than frighten her (which would not have been surprising), it enchanted her. It certainly wasn't anything like her own Underworld, but it still felt... cozy. It still felt like... home.

As she registered her reactions, her eyes lit on another being, standing on the steps of the great temple, in front of which they had arrived not moments before. She knew that she should not immediately greet her. It was not her place. But she dropped her eyes respectfully in any event, ducking her head just a little to show deference.

A tiny step to the side brought her closer to Thanatos, her bare arm brushing the side of his long flowing robes. She wanted to be closer to him now, not only for the security, but also because...

Because. Because it was him.

Her fingers tightened just a little in his hand, and she waited to be introduced, if Thanatos chose that it should be.

Looked up from the tiles of the floor when she sensed the two approach and immediately straightened to bow her respectfully to the two Death deities. Her eyes went to Nephthys and she smiled sincerely, taking the briefest of moment's to say; "I did not expect your company, but I am sure it will be most appreciated.."

"Uncle has been resting, I'll go in and wake him if you just give me a minute." Athena said lightly, opening the door to the room. She stepped inside to see that she needed not to wake Hades, as he was already sitting up in bed waiting for them. She motioned for the others to come inside with her and she approached the King's bedside.

"You should be lying down, Hades." Athena murmured a scolding to her Uncle.

He frowned at her and waved a hand, motioning that he didn't want to hear her harping. His grey eyes went from his niece to the two deities and he looked slightly surprised to see Nephthys with Thanatos. He bowed his head the best he could and then sank back on the pillows, placing his fingertips against his brow.

"...I thank you both for coming. I hope it was not inconvenient for you.." Hades said weakly, straining just to stay awake.

The reaper's hand gently squeezed the hand that constricted around his.

He spared Athena a quaint glance and smile after she acknowledged Nephythys' presence and inclined to her a nod when she mentioned stirring Hades. Following along after Wisdom he noted the weary state of the Lord.

"None."

Going by what Athena told him alone he had drawn his own conclusions and yet he'd hear it from the Underworld Lord dreading what may have to be done.

"Urge I will... that Lord Hades give vigor speech... to his ails?"

Nephthys herself smiled and nodded when Thanatos assured both god and goddess before them that there had been no inconvenience to either. She was happy to let Thanatos speak for her. She herself stayed very quiet, uncertain in this new and beautiful palace of the Greek Underworld.

Hades... She had met him once, at the same party where she first made Thanatos' acquaintence. Hades had been much different then, delighting in making her blush with carefully-placed compliments and courtly behavior. She ducked her head to keep from staring. Their king looked dreadful now, hardly at all the god she met so long ago. She wondered what had befallen him to make him seem so, just as Thanatos asked that Hades tell what ailed him.

She would soon find out. Lifting her head just a little, she looked at Hades from under her lashes, demurely. She knew it was unlikely that she could assist. But she was very glad that Thanatos allowed her to come. He made her feel welcomed. Even Athena, whom she had never met before, made her welcome. And if she could help at all, Nephthys would rush at the opportunity to do so.

She waited. She listened.
