She screamed in wretched agony, but nothing passed her lips in the fog. Piercing, twisting, aching pain lashing from every depth and corner of her mind. She heard the cries of the River Goddess and those tied to her with a violent vision of blood. Everything in her vision was drenched in red. Athena was reduced to her knees in the roadway that ( Read more... )

Hermes appeared next to Athena, looking at her with utter confusion. He knelt down, brushing her hair form her face. He was very confused, pulled in so many ways that he didn't know what to say to her at first.

"What's wrong?" He asked softly, pulling her closer. He wanted to panic, unsure what he should do, and at a loss as to why he was the one summoned. Panic, however, would not suit the situation, no matter what he wanted. "What happened?"

Athena closed her eyes tightly; she didn't know what to do when Hermes held her. Something overcame her at that very moment which completely baffled her. A sudden feeling of fear welling up inside her, it was a concerned ache in her heart.

"I've been foolish trying to handle my grievances on my own. Something has happened to me...I am sensitive to everything. I can even feel your anxiety over me." Athena said measured, pressing a hand to her forehead. "Voices, visions..I cannot stop them. The more emotional, the more real they are. I am trying to get to Hades..it started with him. I do believe he is the one who will end them as well.."

"But.." She bit her lower lip as a painful scream tore through her ears, but she knew full and well Hermes could not hear the agony. "..I am completely blind right now from this...invasion. I need you to take me to Hades’ temple; I cannot get there on my own."

Athena tried to shove back the desperation in her tone, though had little success doing so.

Hermes was torn, and unsure what he should do. Athena sounded like she was in such pain, pain he couldn't begin to understand.

He gazed about the area, trying to remember where exactly Hades temple rested in the darkened depths of the underworld. Something seemed, wrong within his mind. He couldn't remember where to go, not clearly. He just...Lethe said he barely remembered who he was, and suddenly he was starting to understand.

Looking back at Athena, he slipped his arms around her and slowly stood. "Hades' temple?" He asked, looking back and forth, "Alright..."

Slowly he picked a direction, and started walking in that direction.

Athena gathered herself with the aid of her brother, and her eyes showed her nothing more than blackness. Her hand tightened on Hermes' shoulder and she looked to him with an obvious sense of unease.

"Brother, are you all right? ..what's bothering you."

Athena brought him to a hault, she had no need to wander blindly through the wastelands of the Underworld. She sensed a great disturbance in her brother's actions. She knew something was not right.
