Yes, as it happens, I do work for the public service...

I was just complaining about having too much work to do, and a colleague said (and I quote): "Oh, don't worry. If you've got something you don't want to do, just put it aside for a couple of months. And by then no-one will care anymore."

In my experience, this is entirely true...

Really? I was sure I'd heard somewhere that in the private sector things occasionally get done...

Wow, can I defect?
In my little corner of the museum world, if you don't do it...you get into trouble. And then still have to do it.
But, that could be because we're all about to be jobless and so there's a mad rush to get everything done in the next...yikes. 19 weeks and 2 days. Less than 5 months...

See, you actually have a job that results in things happening. Whereas the point of government is mostly to sit around looking reassuring...

(Less than 5 months? What happens then?)

Well, things happen that will then need to be redone at a later date, unfortunately. Rushing through. *rolls eyes*.

After that, I join the dole-bludgers and single-mums-who-smoke-with-their-newborn-in-the-pram in the Centrelink queue...
Or, since I've tried that it scared me, I might just stick to online-job-ad-searching.
