Lester ran into Connor, almost literally, as the young man emerged from the bathroom.
“Look where you’re- Connor, what on earth happened to you?”
The towel around Connor’s waist did nothing to hide the mass of scrapes and bruises on his thin, pale body.
Connor attempted to cover his chest with his arms.
“Um, you know, the usual. Dinosaurs.”
“Are you...?”
Lester hesitated, frowned, and mentally replayed the list of Connor’s ‘accidents’ in the months since Cutter’s death. No, he wasn’t okay.
Lester finally allowed himself to recognise the truth in Connor’s eyes. Bruises were the least of his problems.
