Ryan looked Connor up and down, seeing the streaks of mud and new bruises, and the big grin on his lover’s face.

“Connor, do we have to have The Conversation again?”

Connor looked confused for a moment, and then the penny dropped.

“Oh, you mean the conversation where you give me a lecture about how it was stupid and reckless, and that I shouldn’t put myself in danger, and that I might have got seriously hurt and you might not always be there to rescue me, even though we both know that I’m fine, and you will be.”

Ryan processed that for a moment and then tried to look stern. “Yes. That one.”

Connor grinned again.

“Tell you what, why don’t we just assume we’ve had that conversation, and skip straight to the part where you’re cuddling me and bringing me cups of tea?”

Ryan narrowed his eyes.

“If you’re going to treat that as an incentive to do it more, I’m going to have to try something different. Maybe a good spanking might make you think twice next time.”

Connor looked momentarily startled and wide eyed. Then a cheeky smile appeared.

“That might work.”

Ryan sighed. He was completely doomed.
