Brilliant!

Although do you think John might have attempted the Garden Inversion when Lestrade called Picadilly Circus? Or am I missing something...? ;)

No, no - Tudor Court rules apply, surely? Because of Gold Hawk Road?

Ah, the Garden Inversion. I had forgotten about that. I think John is used to playing by the Berry-Thorpe Rules rather than Marble Arch, which would mean that he's used to the Garden Conversion being made redundant. It is completely valid under Marble Arch rules, though, you're right about that. Lestrade's probably grateful he forgot.

Good to know that a fellow Crescenter enjoyed it.

Gold Hawk Road should have been invoked BEFORE the full station, though. If you want to be a purist about it.

True.

But if he huffs then... no, you're right. I can only hang my head in shame at having made such a basic error. No wonder Sherlock couldn't work it out.

Unless, of course, you're playing by the Hammersmith rules... But that might be a little old fashioned, I suppose.

I don't think I've ever played by the Hammersmith rules. Do they involve Nidd? Or is it just to do with the mode of shunting?

Only on priorly inspected points. We know how remiss TFL can be about maintenance...

That doesn't work ever since the East London line reopened and certain stations were reclassified. It's the Whitechapel conundrum - can it still be the Underground if the trains actually pass over the Overground?

And don't even start me on the Boris Bikes. Have you tried Harrington's shunt since they started?

Clearly I'm showing my age with the Garden Inversion, I'd forgotten that the Berry-Thorpe Rules made it reduntant!

I think it's a regional thing more than age. One side of my family favours the Berry-Thorpe rules, the other side prefers Marble Arch, though my grandmother always insists on Old Etonian or Bethlehem.
