if youre looking for a good laugh, and a decent story...the Brothers Grimm is the way to go. the goofiness of Heath Ledger (who is playing the Joker in the new batman movie: The Dark Knight) was probably his best performance i've seen. Matt Damon proves how versatile of an actor he is in this movie, if you can...imagine him from the Jason Bourne movies and the Ocean's movie...now take that confident sly fox image and throw it away for a goofy, cocky yet scared side. he was a cocky yet scared guy at the time of danger... that and their accents were funny. and lastly, Peter Stormare (Yuri from Armaggedon and the Russian Grim Reaper in Bad Boys II) played a French colonel or something, he made the movie for me.
also great is Brick. set in recent times at a high school on the west coast (i think) it's about a boy who loves a girl, named Emily, that turns up dead (you find out in the first scene) and what he does to help her since she asked for his help before her dying. Joseph Gordon Elliot (from 3rd Rock From the Sun) grew up and became a totally different person from the tv series. he was a serious, fiesty, strong, smart kid who ate lunch alone after breaking up with Emily. He has a sidekick kind of guy called Brain and he shoots Joseph Gordon Elliott a bunch of information. the movie involves: drugs, violence (guns and hand fights), comedy, a king pin, and best of all a great twist at the end.
the main point of this entry is United 93. its about the 4th plane that was hijacked during 9/11, the one that crashed in Pennsylvania. It was a great, great film. i dont want to offend anyone or anything, but this film is worth seeing. this is probably the first film that got me close to crying for a long, long time. there weren't that many famous actors, infact only one that i noticed, most of them were the real people at airport control and communication centers. the passengers weren't really the people, but they did a great job acting. its real time paced and overall: amazing. this is one everyone should definitely see. this film also, for me, brought back the feeling i had at 9/11 and it was done beautifully. i dont know what else to say, but to see this movie.
also some more to watch are: Thank You for Smoking (compliments of Mike Dreyfuss), Lucky Number Slevin (which was a bit predictable but fun to watch), Fun With Dick and Jane, Spartan (horrible acting on Val Kilmer's part, but cool movie), and an oldie Predator (Predator 2 was ok, not as good but cooler weapons...and AVP was just horrible except for the cool actions scenes.
