PET PEEVES : : :
so, like most people, I have some pet peeves. but personally, I am driven crazy by some of the things that people do or say online, especially via things like facebook or myspace. so I am going to list them out - some of the ones I've actually seen - and so I don't lose friends, I'm doing it on the journal that probably no one reads.
"I like to curl up with a good book" - the thing that annoys me about this statement is that some of the people who say it have usually just read the Harry Potter series, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, trashy romance novels, and they think that Catcher in the Rye is a "GREAT" book, even though they only read it because they were forced to in high school. gimme a break and if you really want to be considered a "reader," wise up. just cause you have the ability to read does not mean you've read qualifying stuff.
when listing "shopping" as an interest: "it's what I do best!!!" - I hope not. if you can qualify your life's contributions to humanity as "being the best shopper I can be lol!!", we need to have a serious talk.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" - I'm not trying to be judgmental here, but I get tired of reading this verse in the Quotes section on people's facebook profiles and then seeing it immediately followed by "pimpZ up Hoes down!!" or "da fact im a bitch dont give u da right to call me one" or something similarly, ridiculously gay. people, please. if I take the logic from both quotes, I could basically surmise that this girl thinks that Christ gives her the strength to be a bitch. nonsensical, and ridiculous. people need to stop being weird and contradictory.
"you got any questions, just ask!! you know you want to..." yeah, you might want your FRIENDS asking you questions and trying to get to know you better, but when some weirdo stalker starts asking you questions and bothering you/freaking you out, are you going to be happy to "meet new people" then? I doubt it.
"blah de blah blah I'm Bono and I'm religious" yeah, yeah, we know, Bono. get over yourself and trying to be quotable, it's getting old real quick.
"When a girl is quiet, a million things are running through her mind. When a girl isnt arguing, shes thinking deeply. When a girl says nothings wrong, everything is wrong. When a girl says she cant live without you, you are her future. When a girl lays on your Chest, shes wishing to be yours forever. When a girl says I love you, she truly means it. When a girl says I miss you, no one could miss you more..." experience has taught me that, contrary to what I used to think, guys, more often than not, really are as dumb as we give them credit for. a list like this is a sure-fire way for a relationship to sour, or at least get off on the wrong foot. plus, I have a huge hatred for generalized statements of almost any kind, and seeing so many at once just kinda makes me wanna punch someone in the face.
okay, well that's all I've got for now, but I'm sure I'll think of more later. there is no limit to stupidity.
